*Puts brief case down on the table and takes off glasses very seriously* “So about that AU we discussed that one time.”

➸ “This is a sentence.”
➸ “This is a sentence with a dialogue tag at the end,” she said.
➸ “This,” he said, “is a sentence split by a dialogue tag.”
➸ “This is a sentence,” she said. “This is a new sentence. New sentences are capitalized.”
➸ “This is a sentence followed by an action.” He stood. “They are separate sentences because he did not speak by standing.”
➸ She said, “Use a comma to introduce dialogue. The quote is capitalized when the dialogue tag is at the beginning.”
➸ “Use a comma when a dialogue tag follows a quote,” he said.
“Unless there is a question mark?” she asked.
“Or an exclamation point!” he answered. “The dialogue tag still remains uncapitalized because it’s not truly the end of the sentence.”
➸ “Periods and commas should be inside closing quotations.”
➸ “Hey!” she shouted, “Sometimes exclamation points are inside quotations.”
However, if it’s not dialogue exclamation points can also be “outside”!
➸ “Does this apply to question marks too?” he asked.
If it’s not dialogue, can question marks be “outside”? (Yes, they can.)
➸ “This applies to dashes too. Inside quotations dashes typically express—“
“Interruption” — but there are situations dashes may be outside.
➸ “You’ll notice that exclamation marks, question marks, and dashes do not have a comma after them. Ellipses don’t have a comma after them either…” she said.
➸ “My teacher said, ‘Use single quotation marks when quoting within dialogue.’”
➸ “Use paragraph breaks to indicate a new speaker,” he said.
“The readers will know it’s someone else speaking.”
➸ “If it’s the same speaker but different paragraph, keep the closing quotation off.
“This shows it’s the same character continuing to speak.”
omg this is so helpful

all stories are about time loops, except for time loops, which are about grief
so embarrassing to get obsessed with your own oc but it doesn't fuel you creatively or motivate you at all you just sort of sit there. like yeah I've been thinking a lot about blorbo from my mind. no images of them exist in the world and they have maybe 3 personality traits so far. I would rather die than attempt to write about them. I've spent the last 48 hours rotating them in my brain though

12, 17, and 22 for the ask game 🙏
Ooooo thank you for asking! Let's see ehehe
12. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Lmaoooo oh gosh that was a long while ago, but I think it was when I was about 10 years old I started writing a sequel to the Disney cartoon Gargoyles, because the original had come to a really lackluster end (it was an awesome, gritty, TV show and they wanted it to fit the "Disney brand" more so the third and final season was SO BAD), and in my little angry toddler brain I was like NO I'LL FIX THIS MYSELF!!!
17. What is something you recently felt proud of in your writing?
I'm having a lot of fun with my most recent project, it's original fiction which I've never really tried before. I've recently read the first five chapters again after a good break, and while I'm out of practice (it's been a rough year lol) it's really starting to come together!! There are a few scenes where I'm like *yeah..... this is bangin* and I'm happy to see how I'm adjusting to the challenges of original fiction vs fanfic
22. Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic?
Oh hell yeah!! Because my projects are so long, most of them take upwards of half a year to finish (silent opera, as the biggest, took over a year from conception to finale), so I'm really big on a celebration or two.
Usually on the day I finish the rough draft I'll get takeout or some kinda treat. On the final posting day I really try to reflect on the finished product, how much I enjoyed making it, and really try to let myself feel pride in my work. Sometimes it's hard to remember to reward ourselves and feel our accomplishments, so I do try to be mindful of giving myself a proper pat on the back for a job well done.
And then I'll get another little treat lmaooooo
Thank you for the ask!! This game is a lot of fun!!🥰🥰
