Lois didnβt expect Clark to actually listen
(Based on the Archie Comics panel!)
i love your work! how did you learn to draw? iβm trying to develop my own style
Thank you so much! π I canβt pinpoint a specific moment when I learned to draw since Iβve been drawing for as long as I can remember. As a kid I was really into anime and manga, so Iβd copy the cool characters I saw on screen, doodling on whatever paper I could find. But I never took it seriously, and by seriously I mean in the sense of actively looking for resources to improve. Itβs only in the few years that Iβve started studying things like anatomy more intentionally.
For the longest time I drew without references, and let me tell you, if you want to draw something, search up how it looks! π But at the same time, learning to draw from memory is just as important. Finding a balance between using references and drawing from imagination is probably good.
I donβt think I have a set art style, or at least Iβm not trying to fit myself into one. Iβm still figuring out what I like, and Iβm okay with that! Art is a journey, and youβre always learning. My biggest advice is to experiment as much as possible and not chase βperfectionβ because thereβs no such thing in art. If youβre developing your style, try looking at other peopleβs art and pinpoint what specifically draws you in. What parts to you like? Then try and incorporate those elements into your own art.
Just keep going, keep learning and keep drawing, and remember: you can draw like that too! Your art is inherently valuable, and when youβre struggling, just know that every artist has been there before.
Best of luck anon! π«
