hello! it’s me again crazy. you can call me star or fear

i really need to start making these blogs first so i can blab too and not just post my art

i have strong separation of the book and the show, sorry if that gets confusing.

in some of the book art sq is a bit older than he technically is because i misinterpreted it in the first few books but i liked his design too much to go back lol

anyway, all my art is gonna be under #my art

i have also decided to make a tag for my charts #star’s charts

my commissions are here:

book tag: #tmbs book show tag: #tmbs disney

Mermaid AU!! I hope you're doing well :)

Avatar

I'm assuming this is for TMBS, but MERMAID AU!!!

0. (this is just an in-general thing) Mermaids are Stonetown's worst-kept secret. Technically, nobody talks about them outside of the city, but everyone who lives in Stonetown knows that they're there. Also, mermaids can sometimes gain legs when they dry off, but they get dehydrated more easily, and while they can stave off the effects by drinking more, they must return to water lest they dry out completely. Oh, and other mythical sea creatures (Krakens, selkies, hippocampi, sirens) exist too.

  1. Curtain is a merman who is successfully posing as a human. Everyone on land thinks he's just like them, and he tries to deny his mermaid culture at all, even suggesting that they try to control the mythical sea creature population. In this AU, the wheelchair isn't just for show: walking means sweating, meaning faster dehydration, meaning his cover being blown. (He also takes hippocampi captive for the sole reason that hippocampi nowadays means the part of the brain that holds memory. He still takes memories, but he has an exotic zoo that he's turning into an aquarium. WAIT I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS NOW BUT THIS IS GETTING LONG SO I WILL MAYBE WRITE AN ACTUAL FIC ON IT)
  2. Mr. Benedict, however, is also trying to be human but won't deny he is a merman. He has a giant pool he allows himself to swim in to avoid dehydration, but he's not as obsessed with staying hydrated as Curtain, so he sometimes forgets to drink water. Luckily, he has Number Two (whirlpool monster just like Charybdis) and Rhonda (selkie) to remind him and catch him when he feels faint from dehydration.
  3. Milligan is an Ichthyocentaur (like a centaur, but with a fish portion as well as human and horse portions) that was taken by Curtain. He works under the same idea as mermaids and even looks human until he enters the water. He was found on the brink of drying out by Mr. Benedict (everyone else thought he was just a homeless person, only he recognized the signs of dehydration) and now spends his time in the pool, gazing into the distance with a melancholy expression. He is scary when he fights, though.
  4. Reynie is a human boy who is sympathetic to mythical sea creatures, Sticky is a squid-person hybrid who ran away after being forced to perform for other sea creatures too many times (thank you @lotsofsq alien AU), Kate is a half-human half-ichthyocentaur (can stay out of water for much longer, can choose to look human or centaur), Constance is Totally A Mermaid.
  5. Sirens are extinct, right? (glances behind me, where a small mermaid with a shiny red tail, hair the color of sand, and eyes as blue and shiny as the sea gives me a dangerous look) Riiiiight?!

(PLEASE ASK ME FOR MORE IDEAS, THE BRAIN BEES ARE BUZZING)

LOOOOVE THIS!!!

i’m glad i could help inspire your sticky! i have a few question!!

do the twins still have narcolepsy or is the dehydration like a substitution

what’s SQ up to? 👁️👁️ please please please please

also i’ve just realized i may have misunderstood that last bit but whatever! i like this au yay!

aaaaaaaaaaaaa so glad you like it!

Curtain "rescued" SQ when he was young. He obediently follows everything Curtain says he should do. He stays far from the ocean. He doesn't open the locked cabinet in Curtain's desk. Still, something feels...wrong about all that, he should be running down the beach, he should be swimming, his clothes don't feel heavy enough no matter how many layers he puts on. But he's human, right? And Mr. Curtain is good, so he must obey his every word!

I originally thought of the dehydration as a substitute for narcolepsy, but dehydration applies to all water creatures and not just them, so they still have narcolepsy but it gets worse with dehydration.

And finally, sirens are not extinct, but very, very, very rare. They look like normal mermaids, but their singing is said to lure people to them and make them do the siren's bidding. Beware.

(slight spoiler: the desk drawer is empty save for a heap of furry fabric)

THAT LAST BIT

AU IDEA AU IDEA!!!!!

forest witches au or something of the sort!! think tiffany aching if you’ve ever read that

Avatar

I have not, but it sounds interesting!

  1. The first thing I thought of was The Sisters in my Fairytales series (which I'm still working on, don't worry), they pretty much fit the criteria already.
  2. Reynie is an orphan who ran away from the city, drawn by a magical trail he sees in the forest. This trail leads to the Benedict cottage, where he lives with his three daughters. Mr. Benedict always wanted to start a magic school but was never able to because of the idea that witches can't be good or, well, male. When he found that Reynie saw the magic trail (cast by him to find those in need), he was more than happy to take him in!
  3. Sticky was an alchemy prodigy, which was nice at the beginning, but soon he found himself overloaded with requests. He started messing up his potions due to nerves, causing more pressure to "get it right next time." One horrible, nerve-riddling night, he sees an odd glow in the woods and sees Reynie tending to plants when he follows it. The house is large, Sticky's nerves are shot, he stays.
  4. Kate isn't sure if she's magic. All she knows is that if she puts certain tools together, they start working whether they logically should or not. Or they go boom. Mostly going boom. She spends her days helping fix machines when they start to fail, but she craves adventure. On one of her walks in the woods, she comes across a cottage with a boy wearing safety goggles and mixing liquids together. She might have scared him a little when she called out hi, making him drop the flask he was holding and causing a really big BOOM, but it all works out in the end. Maybe this Mr. Benedict guy can help her find her dad and get answers about these goggles she has...?
  5. Milligan...doesn't know much of anything. Just that he's not supposed to be in this castle, serving this man he woke up to one day. But hey, at least his son is nice! Milligan quite likes the boy, even helping smuggle in things the big guy doesn't want him to have. He does keep reaching up to his forehead, like he's expecting something to be there. Muscle memory, perhaps.

Just to make something clear: Reynie - Wizard, Sticky - Alchemist, Kate (+ Milligan) - Artificer, Constance - Witch SQ - Sorcerer

mysterious. mysterious benedict society. I miss you.. ☹️

IF YOU WANNA SEE MORE TMBS YOU SHOULD READ SOS BY THE LOVELY @nobodysdaydreams !!!!! it expands on the existing show and adds future seasons! it’s really well thought out and keeps a similar vibe!!

thinking about the fact that how long it too for nicholas to come back after being adopted (several months, a year, more than a year) and when in that time nathaniel ran away, greatly affects the tone of nathaniel running away from the orphanage by the time nicholas finally comes back to find him.

cuz if it was. like two months that’s a bit dramatic, but if it was two Years that’s a whole other beast.

i finished severance maybe a week ago and i want to say i do think if you like tmbs you’ll enjoy it, if you like coming with theories as you watch things or the implications of brainsweeping i think it’s a good fit. it is for a more mature audience though so keep that in mind

i’m sorry tumblr i’ve been neglecting you. after finals i will post i prommy xoxoxo
