he was walking in last, trailing behind the others with his hands stuffed into his pockets, his usual cool and effortless presence making him stand out.
she remembered their first interaction on her first day how she had been completely lost, unsure where to go, and he had been the only person to stop and help her, even offering a small smile before he left. she hadn’t forgotten that.
before she could spiral too deep into her thoughts, yunah scoffed and crossed her arms.
“ugh, I know them,” she huffed. “they’re all on the sports teams. I have to deal with them all the time.”
yizhuo nodded, resting her chin on her hand. “yeah, they’re always hanging around. I swear jake and heeseung just exist to be annoying.”
as if on cue, jake spotted them and grinned. without hesitation, he nudged heeseung and started making his way over, the rest of the boys following behind.
“well, well, well,” jake said, plopping down in the seat beside yunah like he belonged there. “look who we have here.”
“nope. absolutely not.” yunah shoved at his shoulder, trying to push him off, but he only laughed.
“what? you don’t look happy to see us.”
“because I’m not! this is a ghibli café! men shouldn’t be here!” yunah exclaimed, looking personally offended.
jay smirked, sliding into the seat across from them. “who made that rule?”
yizhuo sighed, already resigned. “and now I have a headache.”
while the others bickered, yn tried her best to keep to herself. she wasn’t used to loud and chaotic interactions like this. but then, just as she reached for her drink, she noticed movement in front of her.
he had separated from the group, now standing beside her side of the table, looking directly at her.
she froze, her fingers hovering over her cup as she slowly looked up.
sunghoon’s voice was quieter than the others, gentle, almost careful. his dark eyes studied her with something unreadable, and it took her a second to process that he had actually said her name.
“o-oh,” she stammered, sitting up straight. “yeah, that’s… that’s me.”
a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “you okay? you look kinda…” he trailed off, tilting his head slightly.
flustered. she looked flustered.
“I’m fine!” she blurted out, a little too quickly. “I mean, yeah! totally fine.”
her ears burned. why was she like this?
sunghoon let out a soft chuckle, but didn’t say anything else, just nodding slightly.
before yn could attempt to recover, jay called out from the other side of the table.
“sunghoon, let’s go, man.”
the boys were already standing, getting ready to order their food. jake, of course, didn’t leave without ruffling yunah’s hair just to annoy her one last time, earning a sharp smack to his arm.
sunghoon lingered for just a moment longer, glancing at yn again.
“see you tomorrow,” he said simply.
yn barely managed a nod as he turned to leave, catching up with the others.
but her mind was already spiraling.
did that mean he was planning on talking to her? did that mean he actually wanted to?
she watched as he walked away, her heart pounding just a little too fast.
yunah narrowed her eyes, glancing between yn who sat completely dazed, staring into nothing and sunghoon, who had rejoined his group across the café, seemingly unfazed.
“what’s her deal?” she muttered, nudging yizhuo.
yizhuo, already catching on, simply raised a brow, flicking her gaze between sunghoon and yn with an amused smirk.
“we’ll talk about it later.”
