the degree that parents of young children seem to think Baby Shark came out of nowhere astounds me. this is a DECADES-OLD camp song, that has spanned generations.

i am not a parent of a young child but i worked at summer camps for years and let me tell you before it was ruined by parents of young children baby shark was the most fun camp song ever. kids went buckwild over baby shark. but then it had to be commercialized. you ruined it. yall motherfuckers stay away from the bear song or we’ll have words

I love that the only thing that slows it down is being too fucking tiny to make the teeter totter tilt the other way.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

ethics of making AI images aside, I do find a bit amusing the kinds of sob stories and mental gymnastics people make up to pretend like drawing is this super technical skill with an impossibly high barrier of entry when its like one of the first hobbies toddlers pick up

suddenly a lot of people think they got the next Lord of the Rings in their head but they were never able to turn their stories into anything tangible because the evil elitist artists are hogging all the talent and skill and they need a bajilion years of training or something as if one of the most popular manga and anime of the past decade wasn't made by a guy that draws like this

Was anyone gonna tell me we found who Cleo was??? The integration genius on math stack exchange from 10 years ago?

TLDR it was a professor from Uzbekistan named Viktor Reshetnikov who did it because he wanted people to be more interested in the niche problems people would post on there. Cleo wasn’t even his only account, he was doing multiple people

additional detail - he picked very tricky problems where he had a good guess for the answer but was really struggling to prove it. he would post the problem on an alt, then instapost what he thought was the answer as Cleo, and then hope that he could bait other people into doing the work to verify step by step that his solution was correct. and it worked a bunch of times!

previously he had just posted "hey i think this is the solution to this complex integral but i want help proving it" and then got zero interaction

That's fascinating tbh
