The scent of warm chocolate chip cookies filled the kitchen, wrapping around you like a comforting embrace. You peeked over Suguru’s broad shoulder, watching him carefully pull the tray from the oven, his strong arms flexing as he moved. The sight was almost as sweet as the cookies—almost.
But what really made you melt was the pink Hello Kitty apron tied around his waist. It was ridiculously out of place on him, yet somehow, it fit him so well. The tiny matching bow clipped into his dark hair only made it better.
“You’re staring,” he muttered, setting the tray down with a quiet huff.
You grinned, wrapping your arms around his waist from behind, resting your cheek against his warm back. “I can’t help it. You look so cute, Sugu.”
He tensed slightly before sighing, pretending to be annoyed—but you didn’t miss the way the tips of his ears turned red. “I told you, this was the only apron available. I didn’t have a choice.”
You hummed playfully. “Sure, sure. And the bow?”
He grumbled something under his breath but didn’t push you away. Instead, he turned in your embrace, trapping you between him and the counter, his large hands resting on either side of you. The warmth in his dark eyes made your breath catch.
“You always do this,” he murmured, tilting his head slightly.
“Do what?” you asked, voice barely above a whisper.
“Distract me.” He reached up, brushing a flour-dusted fingertip along your cheek, his gaze flickering between your lips and your eyes. “I was supposed to be baking, and now all I can think about is you.”
Your heart fluttered. “That’s not my fault.”
His lips curled into a smirk. “No?”
Before you could respond, he leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to your lips. It was slow, warm—like the cookies cooling on the counter, like the sunlight filtering through the kitchen windows. You melted into him, your fingers curling into the fabric of his apron as he deepened the kiss, his hands finding your waist.
When he finally pulled away, his forehead rested against yours, a lazy smile playing at his lips. “Now you’ve really ruined me,” he murmured, his voice rough with affection.
You giggled, tracing a finger down his chest. “I think you mean I’ve made things better.”
Suguru chuckled, pressing another quick kiss to your lips before pulling back. “You win this time. But I still need to taste-test these cookies.”
You swiped a cookie from the tray before he could, taking a bite and humming dramatically. “Mmm… No need, they’re already perfect.”
Suguru rolled his eyes but smiled, wrapping his arms around you again. “You really are impossible, you know that?”
You grinned, resting your head against his chest. “And yet, you love me.”
His hold on you tightened slightly, his voice soft when he replied.
