apparently the most recent perimem fic after the one i wrote was posted in 2019, and the one before that was 2017. either i'm writing for myself here or a small group of starving people have been fed a crumb today

Hello I'm recently incredibly obsessed with them and I greatly enjoyed the crumb so thank you very much! Hope to see you keep going with the story and hopefully at some point I'll finish the one I'm working on

iโ€™m sorry but in literally any other episode of Doctor Who, a female character and her mother telling the doctor โ€œwell you wouldnโ€™t get it. because youโ€™re a manโ€ would be a universally beloved moment that would be gifed, memed and posted about for years to come. but because it was a transgender character who said it, instead itโ€™s โ€œgender essentialistโ€ and โ€œcringeโ€. literally god forbid a trans female character have a silly #girlpower line yall are insufferable.

I've decided I'm not going to complain about generally positive representations of transness in media. Like, yeah, okay, I do find characters like Adira and Gray Tal from Discovery and Dreamer from Supergirl and even Rose Noble from Doctor Who to be unrelatably wholesome little lollipops; but it doesn't matter anymore. Fascists are in power and I've decided that forcing The Trans Agenda down people's throats like a kettle of boiling water is Good, Actually.

Like I've got some criticisms of a few bits of how Rose Noble's transness is handled in The Star Beast if we wanna really get into it but god damn my overwhelming feeling about that episode is just how happy I am to see an explicitly transfem character in a large role in my favorite show being positively portrayed and loved and supported by characters who I've loved for half my life and those couple issues are not gonna take that away and they're never gonna make me not love the episode for that

Watching 13's era is dangerous because at any moment the camera could cut to Yaz and I could be so overwhelmed by how stunning Mandip Gill is that I forget to breath and pass out

Hey, are you OK?

You look like you might faint.

I think you'd better sit down...

Sorry what does this say? I couldn't read it, I was too busy passing out

Hi, do you wanna know what shows up when I search for the definition of queerbaiting? Of course you do!!

That. That is what queerbaiting is. It is a marketing technique โ€œoh, these two characters act really romantic and have more tension than the canon ships but itโ€™s up to the fans! Their sexuality is ambiguous!โ€

Jemily is queerbaiting esp with s16 having them basically not interact at all because it feels a lot like the creators just didnโ€™t wanna deal with the mess they made

That one supernatural ship is queerbaiting, swanqueen is queerbaiting, that one Merlin ship is queer baiting, the referenced Holmes and Watson is queerbaiting.

THASMIN ISNT!!! Yaz is confirmed to like women, sheโ€™s confirmed to like the doctor! The doctor is confirmed to like yaz (seriously. What else could โ€œif it were anyone, itโ€™d be youโ€ about DATING mean?!), they are confirmed to like each other and they talk about it!! Theyโ€™re mutually aware of their attraction and mutually aware that it canโ€™t happen! Thats not fucking queerbaiting!

Itโ€™s not implying or suggesting or insinuating or subtext. Itโ€™s not even that SUBTLE! No, they donโ€™t donโ€™t look you in the eye, hold your hand and say โ€œyes, I am attracted to women and in love with herโ€ but they donโ€™t need to!! โ€œHave you told her?โ€ โ€œShe likes you, yโ€™knowโ€ โ€œif it were anyone, itโ€™d be you.โ€ โ€œNot a bad date, am I?โ€ โ€œNo.โ€ How else are you supposed to take those scenes?!

I canโ€™t decide if people who say thasmin is queerbaiting are just fucking stupid or maliciously ignorant but damn Iโ€™m getting tired of it. Like Iโ€™ve only been in this fandom for like 6 months, if that, how have yโ€™all dealt with this for YEARS???

I have so many thoughts about the way that 13 spends the first half of Flux responding to her trauma by constantly pushing Yaz away and lashing out and it's an arc that is really resonant for me even if I wanna reach through the screen and hit her for it. But right now I'm just thinking about how the first big turning point moment where she starts to be emotionally vulnerable with Yaz again is the hologram which she records right after seeing that Vinder has lost Bel and how determined he is to find her. I think that made her consider how afraid she is of losing Yaz and also how much it would hurt Yaz to lose her again, and probably was one of the first moments to make her start to realize how much she's hurting Yaz and also herself by not opening up.
