you have to understand, when MY team builds an illegal car it’s a marvel of engineering and a testament to human ingenuity but if my BEHATED team builds an illegal car they should be punished to the farthest extent and all their illegal appendages must be dismantled in the name of the good sportsmanship
It will never not make me laugh at how petrified Nico was of Max in 2016 because he looked like this at the time. That's a literal fetus, just some kid who should be in the club but is barely 18, he was driving an F1 car while his mum had to drive him to F1 races because he was too young to drive. Picture Nico is going through it, he's chasing his wdc dream, his team is imploding, and his relationship with Lewis has collapsed. Meanwhile, this is his worst nightmare:
I haven't seen posts talking about the war in Sudan and offering ways to help so I'm making a quick post

PSA Regarding Hateful Anons
Tumblr recently made it a requirement for you to be logged in to send asks anonymously. If you receive a hateful ask, don’t publish it - report it to Tumblr. It can be traced back to the user that sent it and with enough reports that person’s account will be suspended.
Share to raise awareness but also to make the clowns who think this behaviour is acceptable think twice before acting brave behind the guise of invisibility.
Are you frustrated you can't leave second kudos on AO3? or third kudos? or whatever-who's-counting kudos?
Well, have I got the html for you!
Plop any of these in a comment (by copy&pasting the code) to make an author's day and show your appreciation!
- Second kudos: <img src="https://i.ibb.co/tHMjbb6/second-kudos.png" alt="second kudos">
- Third kudos: <img src="https://i.ibb.co/52bggQH/third-kudos.png" alt="third kudos">
- nth kudos: <img src="https://i.ibb.co/6y7qGtC/nth-kudos.png" alt="nth kudos">
- yet another kudos: <img src="https://i.ibb.co/wKtcj0s/yet-another-kudos.png" alt="yet another kudos">
It will look something like this (and will be transparent with white outline on dark backgrounds):
Feel free to spread and use these as much as you like! (and if you have ideas for other variations, let me know ✌️)
AO3 Etiquette -UPDATED
Based on both decent and not so decent replies, I have made some changes to my original post below.
It would seem a whole new kind of AO3 reader/writer is emerging and it is becoming clear not everyone quite understands how the website community works. Here is some basic guidance on how most people expect you to go about using AO3 to keep this a fun community archive that funtions correctly:
- Kudos is for when the story was interesting enough to make you finish reading. If it sucked or was badly written, you probably left. If you finished it, you liked it - so kudos.
- If you really liked it, you should comment. It can be long and detailed or a literal keysmash. Writers don't care, we just love comments.
- No critisism unless the author has specifically asked or agreed to hear it. Even constructive critisism is a no-no unless an author note tells you it's okay. No, posting it online is not an open invitation for that. Many people write as a fun hobby or a way to cope with, among other things, insecurity and just want to share. Don't ruin that for them.
- Do not comment to ask the author to write/update something else. It's tacky and off-putting and will probably have the opposite effect than the one you want.
- There is no algorithm, it's an archive. Use the search and filter function to add/remove the pairings/characters/tropes etc. you want to read about and it will find you the fics that fit the bill.
- For this to work, writers must tag and rate stories. This avoids readers finding the wrong things and missing the stuff they want. I don't care how cringy that trope is in your eyes - it gets tagged.
- Character A/Character B means a ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship of some kind. Character A&Character B is PLATONIC, like friendship or family.
- Nothing is banned. This is an implicit rule because banning one thing is a slipperly slope to banning another and another, until nothing is allowed anymore. Do not expect anyone to censor for you. Because of the tags system, you are responsible for your own reading experience.
- People can create new chapters and sequels/fic series any time after they "complete" a story. So it's considered perfectly normal to subscribe, even to a finished story. You can even subscribe to the author instead just to cover your bases.
- Do not repost stories or change the publishing date without an extremely good reason (like a complete top to bottom rewrite). It's an archive, not social media. No one cares what's the most recent, only what fits their tag needs.
- Try to avoid deleting a story you wrote if you hate it - make it anonymous or orphan it so others can still enjoy it, without it being connected to your name anymore.
- It's come to my attention that metaworks ARE allowed on AO3, which is something I wasn't aware of. So if you do post an essay or theory, please tag it as such so others can choose to search for it or exclude it.
- The only reason this archive works is because NON ONE PROFITS. Do not link to your ko-fi or patreon or mention monetary gain in any way or you violate the terms and risk having your account removed.
I KNOW there's plenty more I missed but I'm trying to cover most of the basics that people seem to be struggling with.
I invite anyone to add to this, but please explain, don't berate.
Starting to get really really annoyed with the number of gif reposters in the L&Co fandom. Tumblr has a way to give credit if you want to use existing gifs in a post. And if you want to see a collection of moments or a particular type of set that doesn't exist, you can request them from gifmakers, who will often be happy to make sets for you. Don't steal people's gifs!!
I've only just started using tumblr, would you be able to give me a run down of how gifs work? I'm pretty confused, I didn't even realise they belonged to someone, yikes. Is there a way to use gifs respectively? If so how? I don't want to take anyone's work.
Gifs don’t belong to gifmakers in a legal sense because they’re made with copyrighted footage. Part of the difficulty for gifmakers dealing with gif reposting is that tumblr doesn’t have a direct category for reporting reposts because we can't claim ownership the way an artist could claim ownership over something they've drawn or a fic writer could claim ownership over something they've written.
But every gif is made by someone. Someone learned the programme and obtained the footage to make the gif, and then made a decision about how to time the gif, how much of the footage to use, how to crop and size it, how to color it, how to sharpen it. If there’s text, they decide what font to use, how to stylize it, and what to write. When it’s not a gif for what I’d call an aesthetic set (like this one), all that work can be fairly invisible because it probably looks a lot like what you saw on screen (or at least what you think you saw on screen.) So a gifmaker takes this:
And turns it into this:
A couple more, because before and after gifs are fun!:
That can take a fair amount of time, even for something that might look pretty basic. And if a gifmaker can make it quickly, it’s because they've built up their expertise with lots of practice (especially in the case of a show like Lockwood & Co because there are some heavy filters on the show that can be tricky to strip out.)
There are hours of work that go into making gifs, and part of respecting that work is not downloading them and uploading them into your own post without properly crediting the person who made them.
One of the best ways to interact with gifs respectfully is just to reblog the original gifset. Some people reblog them without tags, other people leave tags to organize posts on their blogs, compliment the gifs, and/or react to the content. The main thing to remember with reblogs is that the original poster can see any comments, tags, or replies you leave, so you want to be polite about it (no unsolicited feedback on the set or negative reviews of the show/character/ship, don't add irrelevant comments to the post itself, etc.)
If you want to add a specific gif to your own post, use the gif button like below:
Search for a gif, add it to your post, and tumblr will display it with a GIF by credit like this:
That GIF by is crucial because it credits the gifmaker and links back to the original post even if the person changes their username in the future. (Some people do the unofficial version of this by just tagging the gifmaker, but that doesn't link to the original post, which is really important.) Tumblr gif search can be a bit unreliable, but this link talks you through how to add gifs manually if you have a specific gif in mind.
The main thing to remember is that gifs are made by someone. They're not just neutral snippets of looped footage that appeared out of nowhere. Even that gif above, which probably looks like how that shot appeared in the show, looked like this before I colored and sharpened it:
So just treat gifs the way you would any other fanwork--by making sure that the original creator's work is credited properly!
If you want, you can let me know the language(s) in the tags, and whether or not you speak it fluently!
Are you still a fan of Lewis? You peception of him seems negative these days
(rubs hands) hiii anon i'm SO glad you asked!
i still am a fan of Lewis! i love him, love his insane racing skills, love all he stands for and i love that he makes every race weekend his own personal fashion show.
but what i think is essential to loving/being a fan of someone, is that you're critical about what they do.
i cannot, and will not, say that i agree with 100% of the things anyone ever does! so sometimes i make a critical comment about him (or other drivers that I'm fan of) when i either feel like it, when i have the time and/or energy for it, or simply bc i was bothered one way or another.
that aside though, it is not Lewis i'm often publicly critical towards. it's the so-called lewis fans that do no other than spread hatred and negativity in this fandom. you see, I'm very aware that formula one is just entertainment, a sport i love. it is, to my life, nothing more than a hobby i spend some time and energy on and i love to keep it as that.
but there's some of these 'lewis fans' (they come in all drivers' fanbases, shapes and sizes, but keeping it on-topic), are so pessimistic and negative that I've lost patience scrolling past some of them. i believe it is healthy as a human being to see things you disagree with, and i will keep on reading things that make me frown and shake my head (which only makes me more certain of what my opinion/view is), but sometimes i see things that are plainly false. people jumping to conclusions, writing essays about this or that, when it turns out that whatever they jumped to conclusions from, wasn't happening in the first place.
take the flare that was thrown on track at Zandvoort for instance. I've seen quite some posts on my dash about how it was thrown at lewis and how it was all deep-rooted racism and everything (to which i get your views to a certain degree, the moment dutch football hooligans found max verstappen, the dutch offline fanbase kinda went to total shit), when it turned out that the flare wasn't even remotely close to lewis at all. I'm tired of people always looking for the villains in a story. I'm tired of people always being portrayed as negative because it fits the narrative of these pessimistic folk. I'm tired of seeing this echo chamber of negativity and hatred on my dash of people who all agree with each other under the guise that they love lewis. you're not doing this for lewis, he's not a poor little meow meow in dire need of your pixels on screen as protection. your support to him is what helps him thrive, these negative messages on a platform my man isn't even on is not gonna help one bit but bring toxicity to a fandom about some cars going vroom vroom in circles. it's not that deep on here. and i realise that this entire fucking essay disproves my own point on saying it doesn't make a point, but I'm tired of letting it all slip past, of closing my eyes to this horrible part of the fandom (again, not just in Lewis fans but that's mostly it these days, the max fans have moved quite past that rivalry because, well, on track there is none between max/lewis that is worthy to post about let's be real. or I'm just following the 'right' people, the people that don't spread that, idk, leaving that in the middle) and not speaking the fuck up about it.
so many of these fans are complaining about how formula one is no longer fun to them, but they keep seeing this negativity and reblogging it, adding their two cents, jumping into and staying in an echo chamber of disgusting and false comments and blocking off any critical thinking to their and their friends' behaviours regarding it. take one good look in the mirror and ask yourself why you don't find this sport fun, and I'm telling you, it's a combo of your own behaviour and your closeness to social media.
not me tho, babes. i'm keeping this fun to myself and watching races and rooting for half the grid and laughing at memes and reblogging pretty photo's and yea, since a few months, occasionally calling people out on their bullshit. but never enough to let it touch my personal joy of this sport. hope that answers your question, anon xoxo
imagine saying max only cares about himself when it’s public knowledge that he watches alex’s dtm race, he watched daniel drive dales car and sent him screenshots of him smiling and watches lando’s streams and calls him when things go wrong and tries to cheer him up, and that’s just with his closest mates
he told press that george deserves the merc seat because he’s a great driver, he gushes all the time over fernando and actually does have respect for lewis even if so many of you won’t believe it
stop trying to create this false narrative of max to suit your own hatred for him
never in a million years would I have thought a PIRATE COMEDY SHOW SET IN THE 18TH CENTURY would have a scene where a gay man sits down with his wife and has a conversation without her about what it means to be in love and then he comes to out to her and tells her he's in love with a man and then she hugs him and helps him fake his fucking death so he can leave his old life behind and wholeheartedly pursue a new life with the man he loves without guilt or shame and yet our flag means death gave us that. I didn't think I'd ever get to know what the opposite of queerbaiting looks like but I saw it today
A new name added to the list 🤦🏽♀️
according to @meloingly having 32k of a fic that was supposed to be 20k tops should count as over the 80% of said fic done.
well, those 32k are not even half the fic, so... what do you say? i say it's not even 50% done.
MAAM YOU HAVE 114% DONE WHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS NOT EVEN 50% 😭😭😭
