If safety in your ideal society is entirely based on care by networks of affinity, and does not provide care for people who are not liked by anybody, then your society is actually even worse than the situation we are in now.
Pissing off people close to you or over-exhausting your social network or isolating yourself is often an inherent part of many mental health problems, addictions, etc. By the time people need care the most, they have often lost all their networks of affinity, and with some bad luck, any of us could find ourselves in that situation.
There has to be unconditional care available for the more unlikable of us, or there isn't really a safety net for any of us.

Michigan's hate crime law has been updated to include sexual orientation and gender identity after Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed several bills into law last week. House Bills 5400 and 5401 amend the definition and sentencing guidelines of the state's 1988 “ethnic intimidation” statute to include sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, and age, designating them as protected groups against hate crimes if they are found to be a motivating factor for violent behavior.
State Attorney General Dana Nessel, who is an out lesbian, said in a statement that “it’s incumbent upon those of us with the authority to unilaterally denounce such sentiments; otherwise, there’s no stopping this behavior." “Over the past decade, we have seen not just an uptick in hate crimes, but a normalization of racist, antisemitic and bigoted language, symbolism and actions – including a close adviser to the President giving the Nazi salute during an inaugural rally just this week,” Nessel said. "I applaud the Governor for signing these long overdue changes to the state’s statutes.” The bill amending the hate crime statute's definition was first introduced by Democratic state Rep. Noah Arbit in 2023, but failed to pass after conservatives falsely claimed that the law made it a felony to misgender someone. Arbit noted in a conversation with CBS at the time that the bill did not contain the word "misgender" in its entire text, calling the claims "far-right fiction."
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) signs hate crime laws protecting sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, or age status.

and to the tgirls who aren't sure why the dresses and the makeup and the jewelry aren't working for them: there can be more to "transfemininity" than the feminine timelines you see passed around like prayer beads. your "after" can be something else if you want it to be.
this is rly important to me. it may be difficult to believe depending on what circles you travel in but the first masculine trans woman I ever knowingly saw... was myself, in the mirror, long into my transition and only after years of trying to force a femininity that refused to fit. when you do not have examples to show you what is possible, and especially when the norms that predominate suppress those possibilities in the public imaginary (as they do for tma people, who are only legible when feminine), it can be so much harder to find that path for yourself.

Newsflash!!! If your doctor says your baby has "gonads" that need removal or that there is a genital "deformity" these words are code for intersex baby. REFUSE UROLOGY SURGERY FOR YOUR INFANT UNLESS THEY CAN PROVE IT WILL EFFECT YOUR BABY IN THE NEXT YEAR. sometimes urethras are blocked or there's legitimate impact to functionality. Otherwise almost always surgery can wait till your child is old enough to understand what is happening. As someone who went through pediatric urology- you don't want them operating unless it's 100% necessary. The procedures are gruesome and traumatic (and often not anesthetized) most people use it as a first resort when surgery should ALWAYS be a last resort especially for minors.

121 of 391 homicides in NYC last year did not apprehend the perpetrator - of the 121, ninety-three didn't even identify enough info about the perpetrator to post a wanted notice for them. that's almost 25% of all murders where the cops found out fuckall and gave up.
and yet we're currently witnessing a now-international manhunt for 1 guy and a combined $60,000 reward from the police and FBI while I guess all the poors who get killed don't matter lmao
