On gender manga

The most up to date list of gender-y manga recommendations is here. [Mirror 1] [Mirror 2] I will update this link to point to the reblog that contains the latest update.

On the Magical Translators scanlation group

The new releases are announced in the "magical translators releases" tag, and also on the Discord server of the group. You can also use a RSS feed reader for keeping up with releases, by pointing it to this address:

https://mahoushoujobu.com/read/other/rss/all

You can read the manga either on MangaDex or on the group's website. Prefer to avoid other websites than the two listed for reasons of quality.

I also frequently collaborate with ElPsyKongroo and Danke fürs Lesen, so check these groups out.

Isn't it crazy that 100 years ago, 50% of the US population were farmers? A century later and now most of us don't even know how to cum without thinking about Birdo from the ground breaking video game Super Mario Bros. 2

The nostalgia for Skype is so fucking funny. Like come on. Even now discord is objectively better than it ever was. Skype was genuinely dogshit and anyone trying to pretend like it wasn't either never used it or has completely forgotten what it was like

Skype's groupchats were limited to like 100 people and started lagging and becoming unstable way before you got to that point. The moderation features were extremely basic and close to nonexistent. Your screen was locked into a permanent blinding white light. No distinct channels, no voice chats and no options for customization. No roles, no custom emotes, no officially supported bot API (from what I can remember), the mobile app is (was) dogshit etc etc etc. Like come on. Be serious.

this culminates in people posting the memes comparing Discord's file upload functionality with Skype's file upload functionality which I initially assumed to be ironic in a similar way as those memes comparing a brick and a windows pc where the conclusion is that brick wins because it can't run league of legends...

but at this point a nonzero number of people are taking it seriously, in which case I need to remind people that the reason why Discord limits file sizes is because it stores them pretty much indefinitely for you, for free, as opposed to Skype's file upload where both the sender and the receiver (yes, it's strictly point-to-point) have to be present for file transfer to succeed, the internet connection at no point can fail, so good luck uploading that 2GB file over your dinky 50KB/s upload connection you would likely have at the prime of Skype's popularity (also in my experience getting Skype file upload almost never worked)

if this form of file transfer is desireable, we have modern solution for this, in the form of Magic Wormhole, which is in no form tied to an existing chat protocol or service, and does not require you to set up accounts anywhere.

Anonymous asked:

If it's a game you like so much why would you help people pirate it instead of telling them to go support the developers

Looking Glass Studios shut down almost 25 years ago, friend, I think it might be a tad too late for that tbh

Also I don't believe in intellectual property and I believe people getting to play good games for free is a good thing.

Calling Ultima the single most consistently groundbreaking, pioneering, influential series of videogames in the history of the medium would be kind of an understatement (Akalabeth and Ultima I pioneering the idea of adapting tabletop RPGs to the medium of videogames in a way that established so many elements that would become intrinsic to the identity of the genre for decades, like the concept of grid-based first person dungeon crawling and tile-based overworld travel, later games establishing the mold for isometric top-down RPGs, Ultima Online being a critical tipping point in cementing the popularity of the MMORPG), but even among a series that consistently pumped groundbreaking videogame after groundbreaking videogame it's just completely impossible to overstate how massive Ultima Underworld's legacy stands over a huge chunk of the gaming medium, even if its effects manifest in subtle ways nowadays like I legitimately believe no individual videogame in the history of the medium has been as influential as it.

It's legitimately insane how many seemingly unrelated videogames can be directly traced back to Underworld in some form or another. Like, to get the obvious out of the way first, it established the DNA of the immersive sim genre, so if you like games like System Shock, Thief, Deus Ex, Bioshock, Dishonored, Prey, all of those games were either made by people who worked on Ultima Underworld (sometimes by the same studio even), or otherwise directly influenced by games that were.

But also, if you like any first person shooters influenced by Doom and other ID Software games? John Carmack was there when the demo of Underworld was first shown and decided he could create a faster texture-mapped first-person 3D engine. Which he did, at the cost of sacrificing true polygonal 3D environments in favor of the pseudo-3D that he would use for Catacombs 3D and Wolfenstein 3D, eventually resulting in the creation of Doom. RPGs like the Elder Scrolls or Gothic? It would take all day to list off how much they directly owe to Ultima Underworld. That videogame trope of finding out what happened to the occupants of a place through finding in-game logs and documents? It was established by Ultima Underworld and popularized by one of its successors.

That's without mentioning how many games directly cite it as an influence. Some already mentioned like Bioshock, Deus Ex, and Elder Scrolls, but also like. Half-life 2? Tomb Raider? Gears of War? Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines? All cite it as a direct influence in their game design.

Like of course a lot of these things are by virtue of being one of the earliest free-moving 3D first person videogames, when you're that early in the history of the medium you'll inevitably end up being the first to do *something* that otherwise someone else would eventually have ended up doing anyway, but no other game has a "first videogame to do [thing]" list anywhere as long and important as Ultima Underworld's.

Also it's legitimately unbelievable how technically advanced it was for its time. Watching a stone thrown at you by a goblin sail through the air in a realistic arc and bounce off the walls and floor is nothing short of surreal to see in a game that looks like this and came out a couple months before Wolfesntein 3D

In the abstract I’m not unsympathetic to people who think free speech laws should be less permissive than the US but then places with more restrictive free speech laws keep having lèse-majesté or libel laws being abused to silence criticism of the powerful or hate speech laws being weaponised against anti-Zionists or suppression of the free press or fucking obscenity laws.

and eventually you have to admit that the people saying that restrictions on free speech are inevitably a slippery slope might have a point

the cool thing about us free speech laws is they have an except for palestine enforcement (2015 report). as of last week, us law permits deportation on charges of anti semitism and characterises it as terrorism. mere commitment to free speech on paper means nothing. law is about power.

Guys I just refreshed the site and everyone's profile pics went round

someone could probably make a "who do you think took your boobs?" edit out of this with discord making its server icons squarer

Fun fact: those rounded squares are called squircles.

Fun fact check:

  • the ones used in tumblr are true rounded squares (they use the CSS border-radius property), which isn't the same thing as a squircle. squircles are basically x⁴+y⁴=r⁴ and have no perfectly flat sides, unlike rounded squares which are just squares but uncool
  • the ones used in discord... um. let me check. (inspect element takes 5000 years to load here unlike on tumblr) okay these use SVG that's stupid and pointless and makes it hard to tell at a glance let's copy that and put it into an SVG path viewer tool so i can like zoom in and shit. okay that traces the red path (rounded square) very nicely and not the tighter blue one (squircle) thanks wikipedia diagram

verdict:

Not Squircles

Okay well in my defense I'm really dumb.

Have you ever looked closely at a car windshield?

The edge of the glass is painted where it is glued to the car but it has these small dots between the clear and painted glass.

These are there for a reason. When the sun hits the glass the painted areas and the clear areas will absorb heat at different rates. This causes the glass to expand and contract differently putting stress on the glass.

These dots help the glass to warm up more evenly over a larger area so the glass does not suffer stress that could cause it to spontaneously explode.

Fun fact: the Tesla cybertruck doesn’t have these.

Yes, the glass will spontaneously crack or explode in the sun.

just remembered the bad ending in heavy rain where, if you failed to save his stupid gay son, the dad would be standing by the old grave of his first son and the fresh grave of his second son, and the pixie cut brunette would be like "aw well life goes on, let's just have a new baby boy :) i'll wait in the car" and he's like ok and shoots himself in the head. masterpiece

entirely reasonable reaction to encountering david cage writing for women

still mad about smart TVs. that shit should be in a separate box like you can literally buy one of them androidtv boxes for £30. it doesn't need its own ip address it doesn't need its own app store it doesn't need to replicate the functionality every device plugged into it already has

Smart TVs are one of the great evils of the modern era tbh. If I wanted spyware on my TV I should have to download it myself

i keep promising myself i won't become another technophobe yelling about those "dang newfangled machines" or whatever. that i won't Get Worse until going back to punchcards unironically seems like a good idea. that i'll enjoy new things as they come out.

but so much is actively evil, hostile or otherwise enshittified. i don't want to track my greebles with splorp i don't want to pay a teehee subscription to get round cacophany's file limits i don't need 17 ways to skrimple my scronk 7 of which secretly activate scrungly plus ultimate i don't need to link it to my flowolf account i don't want to manage it with the flowby mowby i don't care if poob does or does not has it for me. i don['t care

i want a big screen whose ENTIRE job is to show me whatever device i plug into it. and also audio. i want to save my documents. on the computer. that i'm using. i want to own the media i buy. i want tech that is fat, properly cooled, simpler, serviceable by a normal person, and not forcing me to constantly select the "onlly spy on me a little bit" box every couple weeks.

You are so incredibly right

I bought a 43" LCD monitor last year and I'm using it as a TV because corpos haven't started putting ads in *those* yet

You say "I'm using it as a tv" as if it's anything else

You raise a good point, given

  • the size of it
  • the fact it has a remote
  • it having four HDMI inputs

However, do take into consideration:

  • the package labels it as "UHD Monitor"
  • lack of any kind of antenna input
  • the remote lacks any kind of "change channel" functionality
  • the only audio related connector is an 3.5mm jack output
  • the official website presents it as follows

And hopefully you will see why I'm having trouble consistently classifying it.

the evidence seems pretty slim in supporting the idea that groping a tgirl’s boobs will make them grow faster, but honestly, you should probably be touching them regardless. please she wants this.
