however i have shit to do right now so all of that is going on the back burner (as it has been for most of my life) BUT! when i start my long and frustrating battle with the healthcare system you'll be fuckign sorry. you'll all be sorry...........

i am Once Again thinking about a marvel dc crossover and the culture shock over how each world treats its mutants/metahumans. it would be so funny

as far as i can tell as someone who is not (yet) and x-men reader, x-men is an intentional allegory for civil rights issues; there are definitions, there are different political groups arranged around mutants, it's like a whole class of discrimination that overlaps with other class issues. leftist infighting and all.

in dc comics, metahuman is just a catch all term for anybody who's got some Special Shit going on and isn't an alien, and it sure as fuck isn't an established identity or political bloc. like there might be some comics where that's the case but it's definitely not a major thing. i can think of one metahuman character off the top of my head who's whole deal is about how much it sucks to be a metahuman specifically, that being Killer Croc.

but the concepts of mutants and metahumans are so similar yet handled so differently. and there's just. there's so much potential for misunderstandings if these worlds overlapped
