they were just boys. confused and angry with the world. james has so much to live up to. and yet he is overlooked, because their hero favors another boy.

he works so hard, and is it all for nothing? stuck as another nameless top of the class. it means nothing in the end. kogane is the only noteable one. the brilliant pilot who flunked out.

and now he’s back, with a grizzled new look and fancy new ship. he saved the universe. and what are you? another faceless nameless pilot. except keith also didn’t ask for it. he never meant to be so… alien.

you can’t even be angry at him. you’ve always wanted to be him. maybe he wanted to be you.

the "people in real life: hey how's it going" meme is incredible because when it hits it hits so well and really strips down meaningless discourse that doesn't matter to the clown show it is but every now and then someone adds it to a real thing that people definitely are talking about in real life, so instead that person shows their whole ass in how much of a unaware bubble they live in (and the arrogance to assume anything that doesn't affect them personally doesn't exist) so even when it misses it hits. just hits the person who wields it.

s8 jaith where james is just a dick, really. he’ll go and kiss keiths kneck until it turns him on and just leaves. pulls him into a supply closet for a sloppy makeout just to leave him high and dry. fingers trailing down keith’s back during a meeting, playing with his belt loops. but they don’t have any free time really. so by the time keith gets back, he’s so fucking pent up and needs some stress relief. 👀

like, okay, consent does literally just mean agree. which is what enables this little rhetorical trick. because there's all this cultural emphasis on sexual consent, which is just expressed as consent, a lot of phrases whose intended meanings are "rape is bad" can be taken literally to mean "i should get to agree to everything that happens in my vicinity."

for an example, "i didn't agree to seeing you wear that shirt" is straightforwardly a fucking insane thing for someone to say, but people regularly make use of this trick to make the (functionally identical) statement "i didn't consent to seeing that"

Strongly recommend that people familiarize themselves with the white supremacist concept of "right to comfort" because of how scarily that concept aligns with this behavior

THIS is where the logic comes from that drives misogynistic control of what women wear, how fat people exist in public, how disabled people exist in public, miscontrues kink-related fashion as the same as sex itself, and prevents people breastfeeding their children in clean environments.
