Cassian needs to understand that being a bastard is not necessarily the reason some people don't like him or that some women reject him. This only serves as an excuse that keeps him from recognizing his mistakes. The first thing he does when he meets Nesta is insulting her in her own house, then he can't stop taunting, harassing and verbally abusing her.He stalks her and tells her that she is unlovable, while she's depressed. This leaves her trembling. And yet the reason she doesn't want to be around him is that he's a bastard.
The same goes with the Illyrians.Yes,it's true that some are prejudiced. But Devlon for example, might be sexist but doesn't despise bastards,in fact he gives them equal opportunities. If he didn't want Cassian to rise in the ranks,he wouldn't let him participate in the Blood Rite, given that he had seen both his potential and his friendship with the future HL.But now he calls him Rhysand's dog and Cassian thinks it's because he's a bastard, who became a general and not because he has actually become Rhysand's dog.
Cassian should just stop hiding behind his origin and reflect on his behaviour. It is the only way to become a better mate,a better general and a better person.
In the wake of the Wonder Woman video game cancellation, I honestly think the reason Wonder Woman still isnβt getting a game or an animated series or other adaptations in general is because the core of her character is too uncomfortably feminist for many people. Her mythos relies heavily on feminist separatism, the frank acknowledgement of male violence and the need to create safe spaces for women, an explicit condemnation of patriarchy in all its forms, paganism in the modern world, and anti-racist and pro-LGBTQ+ worldviews. Not to mention the fact that men are largely insignificant in Wonder Womanβs mythos outside of the Justice League, other than the overarching villainous influence of Ares and sometimes-love interest Steve Trevor. Her world is centered around women and most of her supporting characters are women. In a male-dominated industry that likes to prioritize their white male fans, no other project could be deemed more βwokeβ and unpalatable.
The mediocre white men in charge of DC are absolutely terrified of touching such a deeply political character with a ten-foot pole (especially given the current political climate, with rising fascism and conservatism, not to mention the absolutely brutal treatment by male fans of MCU projects highlighting women and POC). So they just stick Diana in group features where she can be The Badass Warrior Princessβ’οΈ without the accompanying depth that might make people uncomfortable.
Tim Drake is a hoe, he is Bruce Wayne level playboyness. He has not met a single woman who's heart he will not break. He has also moved onto the men. He will threaten to sleep with your mom and he will. Dick, Jason, and Damain would never.
For the streets: Bruce and Tim
Take him to your mother: Dick, Damian
Virgin: Jason
You know I was so happy we were getting a Nesta book when ACOSF was first announced
I was so happy to see that she was finally getting recognition, to see SJM claim her as a favourite, to see her potentially be loved
But I could not hate that book any more if I tried. I genuinely don't even understand why SJM bothered to pretend she likes Nesta or write her her own book if she was just going to be treated that way
Don't get me wrong, I adore getting in Nesta's head, I adore the Valkyries, but it is overshadowed by the rest of it. That book is just such an insult to her character and her fans and abuse victims and people who struggle with their mental health and feminism and pregnant women and honestly women everywhere
a great occasion to pay tribute and illustrate a scene from one of my favorite fics ever, Sparrowhawk by foxbones
