Cass being the undisputed king of family prank wars, always able to sneak attack anyone when they least expect it, making the rest of the family live in terror until the war ends with her victorious...

Except for the one time she rigged a balloon full of flour to explode when Steph walked into the clocktower, and it hit Babs instead. The second Cass saw Babs staring impassively at her with a face full of flour, slowly wiping her glasses clean...

The kind of fear she only felt when Shiva actually killed her and she was dying.

Stephanie and Cass have such a complicated dynamic to me that I can never fully enjoy any dynamic/trope that's slapped onto them, like 'golden retriever x black cat' or 'sunshine x grumpy' or whatever. They're almost always inaccurate because Steph and Cass are both multifaceted and three-dimensional women who can't be boxed neatly into categories, and assigning one of them as the 'optimist/happy one' rings false at different stages of their relationship. What I love so much about them is that they can't be boiled down to one thing. It's refreshing to have a relationship between two women that holds space for all their flaws, nuances, shifting feelings, clashing morals, and more. Of course anyone can call them any trope, it's all good fun!! The appeal for me though is how static tropes don't really apply to them.

Top 5 Gayest StephCass Moments

In my personal opinion!! There are tons to choose from so this is just a small sample <3.

5. Doesn't Mean We Still Can't Play (Batgirl 2000 #38)

After Bruce warns Cass away from Steph, Steph comes and we get this very interesting panel. Steph's expression, the arm slung around Cass' neck, the emphasis on the word play... a very interesting panel.

4. HalluciCass (Batgirl 2000 #26)

Steph is hallucinating Cass smiling like this and being this close and pointing direct to what I presume are Steph's lips. Much to think about...

3. I Can't Talk About Her Now (Batgirl 2000 #58)

After Steph's death, Cass thinks to herself how different Steph is from Batman and Oracle because unlike them, Steph isn't family. She's something Cass can't even name - something undefinable that defies easy categorisation. She's not family, not just friend, but something more.

2. HalluciStephs (Batgirl 2000 #62 + Batgirl 2024 #5)

My beautiful beloved halluciSteph-Cass cheek touches <333. Nothing like hallucinating loving caresses with your best friend in times of distress!!!

1. Bridal Carry (Batgirl 2000 #72)

THE StephCass panel of all time. Cass' desire to be lovingly cradled by Stephanie Brown on full display. There is no heterosexual explanation for this one I'm afraid...

Anyway that's just a few, feel free to add any more!

i will never understand how people can be a steph fan and hate cass or vice versa. like the venn diagram of steph fans and cass fans should be a circle. sorry but this is my truth

HER DAD was an ASSHOLE, BATMAN didn't like her, HER MOM couldn't take care of her emotionally... SHE DIED... SHE WAS KIDNAPPED IN AFRICA............. and yet she made it... she was BG.... she stepped up when Bruce was gone.... she did that.

she hit TIM DRAKE with a BRICK, she humbles BRUCE WAYNE with her insane charisma stats, CASSANDRA CAIN DREAMS of her when things get tough! she has the most SWAG in all of GOTHAM… #stephanie brown THE WORLD!!!!

Carolyn Wu-San, Richard Dragon, and Bronze Tiger will appear in Batgirl #8!

This issue will be a treat for fans of the martial artists in the DC universe!
