Oh for fuckβs sake, people calling out racist writing in fanfic isnβt βcensorshipβ. I say this as a fic writer but some of you need to get off your high fucking horse.
Truly some of the most irritating culture has sprung up around fanwork and fanfic in specific likeβ¦ no, making something for free does not in fact make it sacrosanct or immune to criticism! Your right to βdo whatever you want foreverβ or say βfandom is for funβ stops the second youβre being bigoted and making fan spaces unsafe for marginalized people!
"fandom is for fun" except for poc who have to deal with rampant racism and white people unable to acknowledge let alone take accountability for their racism

"red-pill" "snowflake" everything about v for vendetta...fascists really do love to steal and bastardize culture from the queer people they are trying to destroy
"snowflake" was popularized in Fight Club, a novel by a gay man. "red-pill" is from a movie created by two trans women and is a metaphor for estrogen and gender transitioning. those same women adapted V For Vendetta from the original comic (written by a polyamorous man who may or may not be queer but certainly has something going on); in both versions the titular protagonist "V" is implied to be transmasculine, and a survivor of torture and imprisonment for the crime of homosexuality.
because that's what they see in us, these bigots who are happy to consume and quote and corrupt queer-created media, as long as they can erase every beautiful root. they see criminals, commiting the crime of being queer. and they are doing their damnedest to bring back the laws that made it so.

It's not just to have a "do over" that doesn't involve the original cast, it's to cut them out of the royalties. Literally the entire point is to make sure all the money made by Harry Potter goes to transphobes or people willing to work with transphobes.
If you watch it, you are supporting bigotry, hate, and oppression. That's just objective reality. All for a story that you probably have already seen in movie and book form.
#the last point is especially true since the old cast receives royalties for anything with their likeness on it#meaning the original trio still gets money for every mug with their 14 year old faces on it#if they stop making those and replace them with the new cast which they will the old cast gets cut off completely#which is again exactly what rowling wants because she cannot stand those 'ungrateful brats' as she would likely put it#and as she has last say in anything that gets made in harry potter paraphernalia this might also explain the decrease in faces on products

Itβs rare to feel happy in northern Gaza. But the other day, my sister Soso made me smile.
Itβs not a lie that sugar is expensive. 1kg is $80. Frying oil is $70. That donut was expensive to make, even without the sugar. But itβs okay. Even if it means the adults canβt eat, itβs okay. Soso was happy for a few hours. Sheβs only 4 years old yet her life is already so hard. Sheβs not growing properly due to malnutrition and trauma. Her mental health is in shambles, not at all how a child should be. Since birth, two wars have come very close to killing her, so we just want her to be happy.
Please help me make her happy every day. A few days ago, she was the happiest child in the world because she ate an apple for the first time in a year. That wonβt happen again because fruits are too expensive, but I swear, she explodes with joy when we buy vegetables too. She is a child with simple dreams.

btw this isn't solely a disability rights issue or an issue about people who are entirely unable to work. you should also be thinking about the people who are regarded as unhireable. transfems are hugely discriminated against in this way, people of color are passed over for less qualified white people, anyone who has any difficulty playing the interview game is less hireable... frankly anyone who made the mistake of pursuing the things they love and now has a degree for a niche field. if you still joke about Jobless People it's because you've fundamentally connected the worth of people to their labor, and specific labor, work that you see as valuable. and while i'm at it stop making fun of people who still live with their parents. asshole.
