How long have you had him?

I brought Cheese home two years ago today, on April 10, 2023. I got him from a guy on Facebook who said a stranger had dumped him, with the only information given that he was "female and eight years old." He wasn't afraid of people, but seemed to have never been handled or really interacted with in general, and had probably never been to a vet (he had a huge rhinolith that had been calcifying in his nose for probably most of his life). He was silent for the first couple months I had him (extremely weird for a parrot), even after getting the rhinolith removed, probably because singing had hurt his face for many years. He was pretty nervous around other cockatiels.

I really wish I knew what his life had been like before I picked him up. It's taken him a really long time to accept treats or make eye contact. But he loves music and being sung to and watching the birds outdoors. I really believe that he wants to connect with us and just has no idea how. He's extremely polite and gentle.
