nachos' randoms

@nachosncheezies / nachosncheezies.tumblr.com

hi hello it's me nachosncheeze, but my original blog has been almost exclusively blindspot fandom, so i needed a new space. here you'll find everything else - x files, star wars/trek, atla, memes, art/photos and whatever else strikes my fancy. sometimes i write. pronouns? whatever you like. please note that unlike the blindspot blog, nothing here is even remotely spoiler safe.

i need to edit my shit but that's hard on mobile so i'll keep it brief:

@nachosncheeze - was my first blog and it's basically all blindspot. i spoiler tag by season (i.e. "blindspot s2 spoilers" etc)

if you've seen me liking, commenting, etc and aren't into blindspot, you may be looking for my second blog @nachosncheezies. it's random stuff and other fandoms (you may have found me by x files, star wars, trek, or other things. hi!!!!!) tumblr won't currently permit changing what name you comment/like from, sorry for any confusion.

please note that unlike the blindspot blog, nothing on cheezies is even remotely spoiler safe 😅

"BILL SCULLY"

The Bill Scully POV series, re-edited to fit canon's timeline. [Ao3]

Many thanks to @baronessblixen, who kept this series going; and to @justice-for-queequeg for the X-Cops prompt.

-CHAPTER 1-

"Mr. Mulder, I Know Something About You"

The first time Bill heard the name Fox Mulder was the day after his sister and her partner were sucked almost dry and hospitalized in Washington State for nearly two weeks. One fuzzy, panicked call from Tara and one fuzzier, harried call from his mother sketched in the slim details: Dana was on the mend, she’d been investigating a missing loggers’ case with her partner--

“What 'partner'? She’s in the field?”

She had been, for months. He’d forgotten to ask at their father’s funeral, convinced that her height and lack of experience had kept her teaching at Quantico.

“Dana's mentioned him once before, I think. You know how tight-lipped she is about her life.”

“Mom, do I need to come home? Is she….”

“No, Bill. But I’ll call you if she takes a turn for the worse.”

So, Bill stayed on board; and Dana got better, and Tara celebrated over the phone, and Maggie remembered the name: Fox Mulder.

*-*-*-*-*

The second time Bill heard the name Fox Mulder were the days following his sister’s abduction.

His mother talked of little else-- with Dana’s captor dead, any possible leads had died with him. There was nothing now but faith and hope.

“But I know Fox will call as soon as he finds her.”

i think that if Mulder and Scully had ended up raising little Emily Sim, they would have ended up taking turns becoming obsessed with her Gameboy Color (1998) because she needed help with 'getting to the next level' of such and such or 'with her pokemons' or something, which would end up with one or the other of them sitting and compulsively playing with the little bleepy color game device after Emily was in bed asleep, totally oblivious to being the excuse for her parent's need to beat the boss etc. while muttering about 'How can this possibly be a game for children? it requires a level of hand-eye coordination and precise timing that even an adult struggles with, let alone a six year old...'

(I do think Scully especially would fall prey to this because she's a completionist lol. But Mulder would be far from immune.)

one of the ways i think about memento mori, specifically scully's letters to mulder...it's like all the things she's never said to him & everything she needs to say to him before she dies. she doesn't want him to leave in shambles and she needs him to know she made her choices and it isn't his fault and he couldn't have saved her and he needs to keep going. not for her, but for him & the truth & the world.

these letters wouldn't have felt so necessary & urgent to her, to the point she's writing from her deathbed between treatments, if they did "really talk." this is an anomaly, something the circumstances forced her into. much like beyond the sea or irresistible or fight the future. the times they really talk, and it isn't about work or artfully talking around it, there's something to add pressure. the rest of the cancer arc is the two of them not talking about it, it's full of avoidance & running. never again is also them not talking about it.

they don't figure it out at all until season six, and we see the pay off in season seven. the flirting is off the charts. they have their first kiss. in all things, scully tells him everything about what she experienced in his absence. and in season nine we get the love letters they send directly to each other. in the revival, they finally talk about william, scully chooses vulnerability many times. they communicate so openly in their mulder-scully way.

the tension of bad communication leads to such beautiful pay off. the arduous steps they take, individually & together, to get there are so worth it, and so authentic & relatable.
