they;re selling us to one direction??
Apparently you can add some dog coat color mutations and a gnarly overbite to a grey wolf embryo via CRISPR, plop it in a surrogate hound bitch, and call it a direwolf lol
For real though, the entire “dire wolf brought back from extinction” thing is so wildly misleading as to what they actually did that it’s crazy it picked up as much traction as it has. They have a VERY good media team on board.
These animals are grey wolves with a handful of modifications to their grey wolf genome to give them physical traits that the creators felt resembled dire wolves, based on their research into the partial genome they have available for the species. They did not insert dire wolf genes into these embryos; they merely edited the genes related to size, bone, skull size, and coat color. The coat color they introduced is a dog mutation (recessive red, commonly called “born white” in wolfdogs, is the result of e/e genotype on the E locus).
They’re basically fancy generically engineered wolfdogs — not dire wolves.
I'm sorry but it's way too sketchy to have to "sign up" for a protest. There's no reason you should have to give anyone your full name, email, phone number, and/or address in order to march in the streets. People are getting arrested left and right because cops have access to information that connects people to the protests they were at. If an organization is having people "sign up to join the fight," all the cops need to do is access that list.
Just go. Don't leave a fucking paper trail.
“you’re so mean to me “ yeah and you get off to it what’s your point
Speaking of porn logistics, another personal favourite bit of fuckery is when an artist draws a picture containing multiple dicks, then produces a separate alt for every possible ejaculatory configuration, like there are four dicks and sixteen alts such that there's a version where only dick A is jizzing, a version where only dick B is jizzing, a version where dicks A and B but not C are jizzing, and so forth. I'm imagining some high-class dick connoisseur with exquisitely rarefied tastes out there like "yes, I want to see this character getting jizzed on, but only by the dick on the far left – the other dicks can wait their turn".
Some day I'm going to write a spy thriller where it turns out that the conspirators are sending coded messages via those E-Hentai galleries full of endless microscopically differing jizz alts, where each image contains four dicks and each dick serves as a one-bit component of a hexadecimal encoding.
Brb gotta encode national secrets into my hentai art
Hey fun facts that are fun together :
* as a reverse engineer, I have worked on extracting these sorts of arts from hentai games.
* the game art does this sort of thing so that the story can toggle between different versions. Maybe you didn't get enough Friendship Points with Tgirl Jessica, so she's not ejaculating in this picture.
* the games are often smarter about this than the galleries: instead of storing every combination of ejaculating/not-ejaculating, they store 1 base image, then separate per-dick ejaculatory overlays. So if you've got 4 dicks, this means they have 5 images instead of all 16 possibilities. But this makes no sense in an image gallery, so you have to compose the images together. You'd think all-off and all-on are the only options you need, but some people are content maximalists. (it's possible site policies regarding quotas and stuff is encouraging this behavior).
* around the same time I was working on tools to extract images from hentai games, I also was working on tools to steganographically hide files inside images, in several ways. This was in part because I was working with 4chan at the time and helping them catch files hidden inside images, because channers were turning 4chan into an arbitrary file sharing site (is it a jpeg or a neutral milk hotel album? It's both!), using it to bypass filtering/moderation (you put an image inside an image and now you can't see the internal image unless you extract it. Maybe it breaks the rules. Breaking the rules on /b/ is very bad), or hiding viruses in there (viruses that then post themselves back to 4chan and the cycle continues!)
* This is also when I worked for the US government
So all those facts put together, I'll just say that IF it turns out secret government agents were hiding confidential information encoded into the images of hentai game ejaculations galleries, then... it was me, and I did it back in 2009.

Reasons people may decline to comment or kudos on fanfiction they enjoyed:
However, comments and kudos aren't compensation, and they aren't even necessarily feedback either.
Comments and kudos for fan authors are:
Please don't consider comments, or especially kudos, purely transactional or purely a form of feedback. Comments and kudos are a way to show authors in your community that you're glad they're there.
Authors aren't "entitled" to kudos or comments, but readers aren't "entitled" to fic, either.
Fanfiction is a community, and when an author repeatedly reaches out to their community for connection only to receive silence in return it is very discouraging and can result in the author withdrawing from the community altogether.
As we are remembering faulty video game adaptations, lets not forget the other big Netflix casualty: the Netflix Witcher (both the live action series and the animated stuff), where Henry Cavill being the lead is literally the only saving grace.
The Witcher show was extra tragic because Henry Cavill absolutely loved the video games and the books. He defended upset fans during the press junkets. And he fought as hard as he could to try and ensure the show was a faithful adaptation.
Unfortunately the creators of the show hated the source material, and hated Henry Cavill for trying to ensure they were respected.
The reason he left the show was absolutely because of these conflicts. The show creators wanted to turn Witcher into what they wanted it to be. Henry Cavill wanted the show to actually be a Witcher show.
This literally keeps fucking happening. They keep letting people who HATE the source material make these video game adaptations. Warren Ellis. Adi Shankar. Lauren Hissrich. Ian fucking Flynn. They're all the same. They think the video games are stupid and that they can do better. And the best anybody ever has to say in defense of the end result is "yeah well, the video games are stupid. So shut up." Because they want to be "in" the popularity of the intellectual property, but don't want to deal with the hassle of actually playing a video game because those stupid toys are such a chore, so just watching a show is their way of getting to skip them. Products created BY people who hate video games, FOR people who hate video games.
big fan of urban fantasy and similar genres because theres nothing funnier to me than a setting where youve got people fighting with enchanted blades and bows and hopping around doing magic tricks but you can also just hit a demon with your car if you feel like it
There's this very specific urban fantasy trope which is "processing the newfound horrors and wonders of the universe in a 24/7 diner" that gets me every time
