Fun Fact about yourself? I'm actually an English Major. If we're being specific, I have a bachelor's degree in Arts in Language and Literature, with a major in Portuguese and English (I'm also a non-native English speaker). I went to a renowned public university in Latam and it's actually funny how academia has strengthened my relationship with fanfiction, as I used to binge read anything I could get my hands on every end of semester.
How long have you been writing fanfiction? Officially, since October '24. From what I can tell, I started to idealize my main story back in August. Even though I've been reading fanfiction for over ten years now, I was never one to write much. I have written original fiction, though, almost ten years ago and that's how I always knew I had a writer within.
Favourite SDV character to write? Harvey. Not only because he's my favorite NPC and my husband ever since I first played SDV, but also because I love trying to understand the intricacies of his anxious mind. Truth be told, Harvey reminds me a lot of someone really close to me, so I love making these connections between them and adding depth to his character. However, I believe every single SDV character has the potential to have a whole thesis written about their inner struggles and issues.
Favourite tropes/genre to write? Angst above all. I love yearning and longing and having my heart broken into a million pieces. Hurt/Comfort is a close second, falling into the same category. What can I say, I like them broken. And even though now I focus a lot on romance, I also love writing about friendship and found family!
Your most popular SDV fanfic? If we're talking hits, that would be my first ever posted one-shot, 'If we died tonight, I'd die yours'. If we're talking kudos, then it's 'A Good Morning'. The former was actually just me practicing some writing while I was still getting to know my characters. To be honest, it all started in my Tumblr DMs. The latter was a gift for a friend that was facing a hard time at the time it was posted, and my way of reciprocating all the times she has helped me before - whether she knew it or not.
Your SDV underdog fic you wish more people would give a chance? My beloved child, my main fic, A House in Pelican Town. It is still very new and with few chapters posted, as life insists on keeping me from writing for months now, but I love the whole idea of the plot, all the inspirations behind it, and mostly, my two idiots. I'm always ridiculously happy whenever someone reads it (even more than any other fic, if we're being honest).
Hear me out: Write them sad. Write them broken. Please, write them REAL. Give your characters flesh, blood and soul, make them human, don't be afraid to shape them into something that might not be pretty, but that at least is real. Beautiful stories sometimes can be a little sad too. If angst is your way to navigate through the words, the only person you owe loyalty is to yourself. And even though not everyone will want to approach a sad story, there's always the underdogs cheering from the sidelines. I know because I'm one of them.
Lastly, any other fandoms you write for? No! Only Stardew Valley Harvey Brainrot for me, please!
We are very lucky to have someone as talented as Mimi as one of our number. If you check out her fics, please be sure to kudos and comment to show your support for small artists and writers.
If you write Stardew Valley fanfiction and would like to join our guild, please message this blog for an invite!
