okay so I’m making this a reblog because I could not fit all this into a comment well. @humunanunga
Okay, so from this link -> Here
The person who wrote it said, “Nightmare heard the voice of a man coming from the apples, telling him to eat them and fight back or he would die. This voice was actually the man who killed Nim. His body was absorbed by the roots of the tree when he died, and his soul and conscience had remained trapped within the negative side of the tree ever since, giving said side more power than it should have had without Dream or Nightmare ever knowing so. Following the encouragement, Nightmare ate the apples, giving all the negativity a body to possess. He completely lost control of himself. He became someone else.”
The last sentence links to this post from Joku -> Here
Which says, “literally the good nightmare (nightmare not corrupted) was another person, no, I do not mean another person as a metaphor. Literally it was another person, the nightmare we know now are all the negative feelings of the tree with the normal nightmare personality…when nightmare ate the apples and started to crack, he had a vision. a dark being equal to him, offered him protection, told him that he would no longer feel pain, that he would take revenge for all the bad things that had been done to nightmare. and the nightmare good, he accept, he embrace the negative feelings that he himself had eaten ….. and that’s why he turned that black thing. The nightmare we know today, is not the same nightmare that was good before. They are two different beings.” Joku used a translator, that’s why the English is a bit wonky.
So what does mean? Has the writer of that “fact” extrapolated from Joku’s words, have they just not found a good source for that, or did they just make it up? I have no earthly idea. Well, I had, but then I reread the comic-specifically the part where Nightmare but the apple-and found this gem: link here
The important part says, “‘Get stronger’ He heard a voice that came from not the tree, but from the black apples; it was the voice of a man, very different to his mother’s. Who was this guy?”
So I feel like this is the closest to any sort of confirmation that this was the man who attacked Nim being the Corruption.
Conclusion??? I dunno man. The Corruption is definitely not Nim, for one. It makes sense for it to be the human who attacked Nim though, as it gives him more narrative purpose than just being the one who attacked her. There’s likely more information about this that I just cannot find, unfortunately. But this is all I got.
Oh, and there’s also this comic Joku made(I think) that showed off the human’s design(he looks so cool ngl). Here. Could not access any other parts to that. You can also kinda see the human in the first part of Joku’s comic here.
