Commissions open✨
Hello! Cannot guarantee completion for christmas/holidays but still have space for some extra commissions. Pet pieces can be ordered through my online shop and other commission types please email me at niqvassie.art(at)gmail.com ❤️
Thanks for all the support always! Means a lot <3
Drawings of male fig wasps of the same two species as my last post, done as part of my masters thesis a few years ago.
Male fig wasps generally look entirely different to the females with most having no wings, vestigial/no eyes and tiny antennae. They cannot survive long outside the fig - their only role being to mate and then chew an exit from the fig for the winged females. 🌱
Hello! I'm going to take on 6 A4-sized pet portrait commissions to work on next week for anyone interested. Any animal species is fine, I just need high-quality photos of your lovely animal friends in good light. ✨
Can do pencil or coloured pastel and i always send along any pages of studies/sketches i make as well.
Please order via my online shop before Dec. 4th!
------------------------------
Will send them by December 10th so hopefully will arrive in time for holidays/christmas but cannot be 100% sure <3
Feel free to message or email at niqvassie.art(at)gmail.com if you have any questions. Thank you! ❤️
Drawings of female fig wasps done for my masters thesis a few years back - so tiny but such incredible animals!
Fig wasps pollinate the flowers within fig fruits, with the majority of the 800+ fig species being pollinated by a unique species of wasp. Female fig wasps are 1-2mm long and only live a few days but the furthest pollination distance found between two fig trees is over 160km (Ficus sycomorus and Ceratosolen arabicus in Namibia)! 🌸
(if you want to learn more about fig-fig wasp biology, my thesis film is on Figweb!)
Updated my INPRNT with some more pieces and all currently 30% off ☀️
