Video: Hossam Al-Qazzaz has recently given us a glimpse of a day in the life of his family through a video he sent to us, featuring his infant daughter Habiba, son Bashar, and other daughter Diana. Despite their living conditions, Hossam does his best to keep his children's spirits high.
@hanon-qazaz

Story written by @rumiandroses

Imagine being born into a world where the first sounds you hear are explosions, the hum of drones, and the cries of your family fleeing for their lives. This is the reality for Habiba Al-Qazzaz, a precious baby girl who has known nothing but war, displacement, and hunger in her short life. Born in Gaza amidst the ongoing conflict that began on October 7, 2023, Habiba has spent much of her existence so far in uncertainty, hunger, and fear.

This precious little girl is not even a year old, and already, she has suffered through unimaginable hardship.

Her parents, Hossam and Hanan Al-Qazzaz, are doing everything they can to care for Habiba and her three siblingsBashar (9), Hani (8), and Diana (4). But the relentless devastation of Gaza’s infrastructure has made survival nearly impossible. With no stable income and essential supplies priced beyond reach, the Al-Qazzaz family is fighting a daily battle just to keep their children warm, fed, and safe.

Their GoFundMe campaign has been their only lifeline, allowing them to afford the most basic necessities—food, water, milk for Habiba. Yet despite the thousands of people who have seen and shared their plea, donations have been coming in at a painfully slow pace. Since last year, they have managed to raise only €2,000, an amount tragically short of their €55,000 goal—the sum they had hoped would allow them to evacuate to Egypt with Hossam’s elderly parents and start anew.

Forced to Live on Top of Rubble

Images: (Top) Bashar, Hani, and Diana, still able to smile in spite of the devastation they've been forced to endure. (Bottom) Hossam Al-Qazzaz, as he does his best to clear their destroyed home of debris to make it slightly more suitable for habitation.

As time passed and donations fell short, the family was forced to abandon their dreams of escape. Instead, they now live atop the ruins of their destroyed home, sheltered only by a fragile tent that does little to protect them from the cold, roaming animals, or the ever-present danger of violence. Their reality is bleak, and their options are running out.

On February 8, 2025, Hanan reached out to us with an update on her family's condition:

Image: Hanan's update message to us, informing us of her family's current condition.

The freezing temperatures persist. Her children are crying for warmth in a shelter that provides no protection from the elements.

This is Not a Call for Comfort—It’s a Plea for Survival!

The Al-Qazzaz family is NOT asking for luxuries. They are asking for the bare minimum:

🧤🧣Warmth for their children.

🍞💧 Food and clean water.

🏠🚪A secure shelter.

With further violence looming, the time to act is NOW.

How You Can Help

🔹 Donate to the Al-Qazzaz Family’s GoFundMe to help provide food, warmth, and shelter for Habiba and her family. Every contribution—no matter how small—makes an impact. [DONATE HERE] 🍞💧🍼🧦🧣🧤🏥

🔹 Support the Chuffed Campaign created by our founder, Bethany-Grace, as an additional fundraiser to help the family rebuild their lives. This ensures they don’t have to choose between saving money for the future and feeding their children today. [DONATE HERE] 🌱🏠🛫🕊️

🔹 If you cannot donate, PLEASE share this post. The more people see their story, the greater the chance of reaching someone who can help. EVERY like, share, and repost helps.

The Al-Qazzaz family’s campaign has been vetted by @gazavetters and is #287 on their list of verified campaigns.

A Family of Resilience and Kindness

Hossam Al-Qazzaz is also the cousin of Falestine Asad, another courageous individual struggling to keep her infant child safe in war-torn Gaza. Both Hossam and Falestine are some of the kindest and humblest people you will ever meet. If you can, we encourage you to view and share both of their campaigns, and to donate if possible.

Together, we can help the Al-Qazzaz family find the security, warmth, and stability they so desperately need.

No child should have to suffer like these poor babies have.

Let’s all be part of the reason they make it through another day, and into a brighter, more peaceful future. 🙏🏻🕊️💗

Tagging for reach (DM if you'd like to be removed):

All the words do not express what is going through my mind, it is a mixture of thanks, respect, love and respect. My greetings and great respect to you.

Hi my friend, unfortunately tumblr has blocked me from sending messages, so I am trying to contact you here. My friend, we are in the most difficult circumstances now, as the rain is falling on us and penetrating our torn tent, please donate what you can so that we can fix our tent, as we are at the peak of our suffering now.

Please donate

I need to buy milk for my little daughter Habeeba, buy nylon for our tent because it is raining and buy shoes for my sons because they are always barefoot. Please we have spent all the previous donations and we have nothing. Please don't ignore me. I trust you.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity!

UPDATE: NEW LINK! Yahya and his family were displaced by the IOF, and are currently residing in Deir al-Balah, south-central Gaza.

Life as displaced Gazans was already extremely difficult for them. Food is very scarce, and their living conditions leave them exposed to the elements. Here is the frequent condition of their tent now that the winter rains have come:

Then, Yahya’s father was injured. Some cartilage was damaged in his neck, and doctors say he requires IMMEDIATE surgery to avoid permanent paralysis.

Yahya and his family previously had another campaign, but it was suddenly shut down by GFM with no explanation. They have created a new one, but it has EXTREMELY LOW FUNDS.

The surgery is a stifling €15,000 euros (about $15,729 USD). Yahya and his family have no hope of paying for it without your help.

I am currently watching an elderly loved one lose their mobility, and it is an extremely heartbreaking and isolating situation. I cannot imagine what Yahya and his family are going through, having no social or financial support and only minimal medical care.

Please give what you can to this family. You are their only hope to save their beloved father’s mobility!

Major update on Yahya’s little brother Omar

As discussed previously, Omar remains hospitalized with severe burns. You all raised €700 EUR to attain burn ointment for the immediate treatment of his wounds. Thank you.

Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of Omar’s treatment journey.

At just 7 years old, little Omar has third-degree burns over much of his small body due to the IOF attack. The burns are severe in that they burned through his skin, through his ligaments and muscles, and down to his very bones. To say this little boy is in constant, excruciating pain would be a gross understatement.

The pain is not his only problem. The damage to his skin is so severe that his body is unable to heal itself. He requires a skin graft in order to transplant new skin that will be able to regrow.

Without this, Omar’s extensive wounds will remain exposed for a very, very long time. This makes him extremely vulnerable to a catastrophic infection, and his body will be unable to fight it off. Infections are widespread in Gaza right now due to the IOF’s destruction of sanitation infrastructure and the scarcity of antibiotics and other medicines.

This means that at virtually any time, Omar could contract an infection and die. He URGENTLY needs this skin graft so he can finally start to heal!

Please share the campaign widely, donate if you can, and share Omar’s story with your friends and loved ones in real life!! A little boy’s life is at stake!!

Current: €3,134 EUR

New temporary goal: €6,134 EUR

Need to raise: €3,000 EUR (about $3,081 USD)

IMPORTANT UPDATE! Please share!

Omar’s brothers spoke with the hospital billing department today. The brothers were told that if they could not pay the lump sum $3,000 USD, they could utilize a payment plan: $750 USD/month for 4 months. However, the hospital will not perform the operation until 2 months or 50% of the bill is paid.

This lowers our temporary goal significantly. Instead of $3,000 USD, the sum required for little Omar to receive his skin graft is $1,500 USD, with a following $1,500 in the subsequent months.

Since the previous post was made, we have raised €443 EUR. This means we still need to raise €1,057 EUR (about $1,110 USD).

Current: €3,577 out of €4,634

Need to raise: €1,057 EUR (about $1,110 USD)

shared by 90-ghost, shared by gaza-evacuation-funds and vetted by association

€4,684 / €5,360

we have finally passed the 50% point of the amount needed to be raised for the payment plan! this means omar can finally have his skin graft now! however, they still need to pay the rest

since their payment plan requires $750 USD / €726 EUR to be paid per month, i have set the next temporary goal to reach the next quarter of their payment

once this goal is reached, they will only need one more quarter and will have paid off all the costs of omar's operation

€4,931 / €5,360

no donations were made today. they still need €429 to reach this goal

yahya has explained that due to 30% fees, the money that was meant to reach them actually came to much less than what they needed for the halfway point.

therefore, omar still has not had the surgery.

they urgently need €200 to get it, please let's do what we can to help - yahya is very afraid omar will die

Anas has gastric cancer.

Anas (@dr-anas96) is severely suicidal and is dying on the inside in every sense of the word. Mentally he feels his life is over, and physically he's barely moving anymore, only occasionally coming to consciousness and vomiting blood.

I'm begging you from the bottom of my heart not to let my friend die. This entire time, during this genocide he's living through, he's been:

Now, with some reprieve for Gazans seemingly so close, he is dying. I don't use this word lightly because I don't want to believe my dear friend is dying. I am only saying it because I have no escape from believing it

But I still have hope that we can carry him through this so he can see the end of this difficult road. I am not giving up on him and I'm begging, begging, begging, begging you all not to give up either. We're so close.

I didn't want to share some of the more graphic photos Anas sent me, but his campaign goes days without donations, and he insisted I share these photos. CW for blood under the cut.

Baby Ayla and her family were in their tent today when the IOF suddenly appeared and began firing on the tents. The family barely escaped with their lives, a bullet having narrowly missed baby Ayla’s head!

They had to leave their tent and most of their possessions, which are now under IOF control and are irrecoverable.

They are currently on the street, with no tent, no blankets, no food, and no clothes other than what they were wearing when they had to flee for their lives. They are literally just sitting in the dirt under the night sky.

Ayla’s mother Bashaer @bshaeromars-blog is trying to get Ayla to sleep, but Ayla is too cold and uncomfortable. The low temperature in Gaza tonight is just 47 F or 8 C. They are starving, freezing, and totally without resources. They DESPERATELY need funds for a tent, food, and other basic necessities!! The tent alone is $3000

Currently: $40,469

New temporary goal: $43,469 USD

Please send anything you can so baby Ayla and her family can survive the night!!

NO SUPPORT IN A WHOLE WEEK!!!

Bashaer and Ayla returned to their home in north Gaza, but as you can see, it was rendered uninhabitable by the IOF:

They are still living on the street, still without shelter, and still in desperate need of your support for food, medical care, and repairing their home to the point where it is livable again.

We are setting a low temporary goal to try to restart donations. Please help a young widow and her baby rebuild their lives❤️‍🩹

Current: $45,755 USD

New temporary goal: $46,000 USD

Need to raise: $245 USD

I have terrible news. For no apparent reason, gofundme has disabled Nader's contact from being able to recieve and transfer the money from his gfm to Nader and this has been the case since December 17th, 2024. This means that despite being 95% raised of his goal, he can't actually access the funds bes been fundraising and he has to start all over again because gofundme also won't respond to his contact asking for help and trying to resolve the issue.

Below is his new fundraiser. He asks that you donate here, and that they need the funds because the corridor to exit Gaza will be opening. His vetting information is on the pinned post of my blog.

Please all help us we have not received money since 12/17 until now and the time for opening the Rafah land crossing is approaching and we need your help please donate

I have bad news.

Mahmoud's wife Dina is confirmed to have lung cancer and she needs immediate treatment. She is currently being hospitalized. They need ALL the help they can get. Please please please consider donating to them.

I recently spoke with my dear friend Suad @suad-khaled and she gave me an update on her life as a displaced mother in south-central Gaza. I want to share with you all some of what she told me:

Our situation has become far worse than before.
My baby, Khaled, who is now 6 months old, depends on formula milk, which is either unavailable or sold at prices I simply cannot afford. Diapers are also ridiculously expensive, and even basic food has become out of reach.
Some vegetables and fruits are available in the market, but I can only afford to buy a single piece at a time, which becomes one meal for Khaled. But what about the rest of the day? What about the following days? As a mother, I can endure hunger, but how can a baby?
Even flour, which we relied on for our basic sustenance, is almost unavailable. The little we managed to buy is infested with bugs and worms, unhealthy but the only option we have left. And now, it’s almost gone. What will we do after that?
Khaled’s health has also worsened. He struggles to breathe due to his chest allergies, a condition that developed under these harsh circumstances. He needs regular nebulizer sessions and medication, but we can barely afford to provide them.

Here is precious little Khaled, tired and fatigued from hunger and sickness, receiving nebulizer treatment:

And here is the flour Suad and her family are forced to pick through in order to survive.

Sifting only removes the largest insects that have made their home in the flour. It does not remove larvae, detached wings, or excrement. Suad and her family are forced to eat them in order to (barely) avoid starvation.

Suad’s situation has never been more dire than it is right now. Food and basic necessities are extremely scarce and expensive. And the threat of IOF attack is omnipresent.

Please, if you can spare anything at all, send something to Suad. We are her and her baby’s best chance at surviving genocide.

February 13th:

Kholood Smeer @kholoodpals is a 29 year old Palestinian physiotherapist desperately seeking aid after her family's home was destroyed. They are struggling each and every day to make ends meet and, like many survivors, have been reduced to relying on help from strangers online. Kholood also has an infant child to take care of. The gravity of their situation speaks for itself.

From the gfm page:

We are humbly asking for $22,500 to help us leave Gaza and secure a safe future for our family. This amount will cover essential travel and resettlement costs to get us out of harm’s way and allow us to rebuild a life where our children can be safe and free from fear. Please, if you can, help us escape this suffering and give our children a chance at a life without war. Your kindness and support mean more than words can express. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to safety and a future filled with hope. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Note : Our first small target is 5,000 out of 22,500

At the time of writing this post:

£2,692 / £5K goal. 146 donations. 54% of the way funded so far. Last donation was 19 hours ago.

Mohammed is in a crisis situation, on which you can find more information under our “#mohammed al habil” tag.

Mohammed has been unable to attend his physical therapy due to lack of funds. The condition of his leg has deteriorated as a result.

He now requires an urgent operation in order to save the function in his leg. Mohammed is only 18, and he is terrified of spending the rest of his life with only 1 usable leg.

The operation costs $4,000. Currently, Mohammed's campaign is at just over €17,000. This represents the total funds raised over time, not the funds currently avallable.

New temporary goal: €21,000 EUR

Need to raise: €3,712 EUR (about $3,828 USD)

Please help Mohammed save his leg!

NOTE: I am unable to effectively fundraise for Mohammed. We are urgently hoping for bloggers who will be able to devote time and attention to promoting his campaign. Please consider making a post for Mohammed to promote his campaign so he can save his leg!

🚨🚨Major update!!🚨🚨

As explained here, Mohammed underwent the first stage of the surgery he needs to return function to his leg. This has left him with serious medical debt that he must pay off urgently.

He remains stranded in southern Gaza, unable to walk due to his injury. He is all alone, and has no way to support himself. He desperately needs funds for food, his ongoing care regiment, his debt, and a future medical evacuation.

We have set a new temporary goal to raise €500 EUR (about $525 USD)

New temporary goal: €20,804 EUR

Need to raise: €500 EUR (about $525 USD)

€20,319 raised of €35K

He’s barely had any progress since his surgery, please help in any way possible!

i and many others are offering art if you donate any amount! there are also people offering stickers or keychains on cartoonist co-op’s esims for gaza site!
