A sword to the gut can be so personal

@nubreed73 / nubreed73.tumblr.com

Pākehā fanperson. She/they. Queer. Currently emotionally compromised by My Country: the New Age and Arthdal Chronicles and various other K Dramas. I make vids and write fics. Shameless YSJ and SJK stan account.

I personally love it when actors are not normal about the characters they play. I love it when they get attached and start saying weird shit cause they have clearly been thinking about it. Yes court jester, tell me more of your special little headcanons.

I’m not naming names because I’m not trying to start anything but I’m seeing several mutuals claiming they always knew Gaiman was a bad egg and it was so obvious, as though they didn’t make me stand in line with them to get his signature and kept their signed copies of his books on a special shelf akin to a shrine.

And like, listen, you don’t need to pretend.

This isn’t the devil’s sacrament. You’re not tainted by association. You’re not morally bad for not immediately knowing when someone is being charming and persuasive to hide something they don’t want you to know.

Abusers don’t just groom their victims. They groom their witnesses too. You were never supposed to know something was wrong because it was intentionally hidden. It’s okay you didn’t know. You don’t need to act like you never liked him or his work. You don’t need to pretend. But you do need to stop being shitty to other people who also didn’t know because it reeks of victim blaming.

“Well I knew, so how come others didn’t?”

His victims were fans. Are you blaming them for not knowing?

Christ alive, I hope not.

I don't want to take away the very real harm that was caused to people specifically by Neil Gaiman, but this is a very good learning opportunity in the current zeitgeist of weird parasocial relationships and 'you can tell a lot about someone from their art'.

No, you didn't know that this person was awful. You didn't know anything more than a curated version of himself he put on the internet.

Sure, you can go dig through the troves of his work, interviews, etc., and find some hints that look obvious in hindsight, but you could also do that for literally any creator and do some Da Vinci Code numerology nonsense to invent evidence against them, too.

I say this man is a particularly good learning opportunity because--while I do not personally know much about him or the things he has made--I hear over and over that it's such a shock because he seemed so nice and because he made art that emphasized being a good person.

If you didn't know: Pretending you could tell and were not also fooled does not help you or his victims. It will not protect you from similar liars in the future. It doesn't make you a better person.

If you did know: If you (or someone you know) did not know him personally or were not one of his victims--no, you didn't. You made a guess based on 'vibes' and got lucky.

Chapters: 1/? Fandom: 아스달 연대기 | Arthdal Chronicles (TV) Rating: Explicit Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Rape/Non-Con Relationships: Eunseom/Saya (Arthdal Chronicles), Eunseom/Tagon (Arthdal Chronicles), Saya/Others Characters: Saya (Arthdal Chronicles), Eunseom (Arthdal Chronicles), Tagon (Arthdal Chronicles), Mubaek (Arthdal Chronicles) Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon, Rape/Non-con Elements, Sibling Incest, Humiliation, Feminization, Priest Saya, Dancer Eunseom, Tagon should always be his own warning Summary:

He veers back as if something, someone has shoved him in the chest. It feels like being winded and he can’t give into it. He needs to focus, to—Saya opens his eyes and turns to Eunseom. There is a tight feeling under his ribs, burning, almost like being winded. It is panic. Saya is panicking and he wipes his hands on his robes, the silk, reed-thin, immediately saturated with his sweat.

“Run,” he says. “I’m serious, Eunseom-ah. Run.”

A canon-divergent(ish) AU where the Igutu twins were never seperated but taken by their mother as babies to be raised at a temple outside of Arth’s borders. Wrapped up in each other, their peaceful existence is shattered when warriors of the Daekan tribe, led by Tagon Niruha, invade the sanctity of the temple and change them both irrevocably.

The Arthdal Chronicles twins against the world/temple invasion AU (currently WiP) is finally out in the world!  Please do heed the warnings - this is quite heavy in places and likely not for everyone.

It includes:

🟣 The aftermath of a horrific night 🟣 Eunseom: still having A Bad Time 🟣 Apothecary sisters 🥰 🟣 Tagon: the worst gatecrasher ever 🟣 Saya: not doing so well 🟣 But who is 🟣 Tagon probably

As always please heed the tags! This took me nearly ten months to write for a number of reasons, but mostly because of 2024 being an utterly horrendous year on a personal level. It is an overwhelming relief to have finally finished the chapter and I'm working on the next one already.

I feel like a lot of people on here need to internalize this:

Knowing your sexuality and gender and being able to fully inhabit them from an early age does NOT make you inherently superior to those of us who took longer to get there. It just makes you very very lucky that you grew up in an environment where you could safely live your truth.

I don’t begrudge anyone with that ideal experience because honestly, it’s what we should all be working towards. But a lot of folks on here really need to learn some fucking empathy.

I just mainlined all of Arcane (both seasons up until 7-9 which drop tonight) and I would like to state that Vi is the hottest thing that has ever existed. EVER.

on one level, black sails is about what happens before treasure island. on another level, it’s about solidarity and revolution. on a deeper level, it’s about the fucked up things people do because of love. but on the deepest level, it’s about shame

having a favorite character from a piece of media you haven’t seen but one of your mutuals is unwell about is like. that’s my nepo blorbo from the gifsets,

on that note it’s crucial to understand that there is no twosome from the challengers trio that could ever work. like patrick and art alone are repressed tashi and art alone are resentful tashi and patrick alone are toxic it simply does not work they always need the third to balance each other out this is is a throuple movie a threesome movie you’re literally not understanding

IDGAF if the women in my fiction are empowering or aspirational, I'm an adult, I don't need role models, I want the women in my fiction to be interesting, and if that involves being pathetic, hypocritical, amoral, or trapped in a delightfully dysfunctional relationship so be it

Marvel | Buffyverse by Jess Wilson

This isn't new new but I just discovered it at VidUKon so it's new to me! I'm not the biggest fan of diegetic dialogue in vids but this is really masterfully employed and it's extremely powerful here. I love this.
