This year has been the longest stretch of me not re-watching Zhen Huan or Ruyi, but I’m back to it now. And yup, this scene still destroys me every single time.

(But also, Ruyi is truly a “marriage falls apart” drama where you never want them to re-start. I know cnetz didn’t like how Ruyi wasn’t as scheming as the novel, but I always felt thematically and in terms of plot coherence, it made so much sense for her as a character. The best harem dramas are never about the victor, but how to maintain a sense of morality in a corrupt place.)
