Welcome to Bee's House

It's the worst pun ever! I am finally making a pinned note.

This is MOSTLY a House MD blog. But now it has HEMA and fibercrafts too. Some other shows, audio dramas, and books sneak in there. Beware of untagged House MD spoilers.

I write fic, headcanons, meta, silly stuff. I love basically all the MCs, and I occasionally focus in on the ones I feel need more love.

I thought I found the perfect pitcher for my SCA kit at Walmart today

Except that brand has been recalled for lead on multiple occasions (and also it was massive)

Breezing past the dismal implications of that - I guess if I want a pitcher that looks period Iโ€™m going to have to make my own.

The way I talk about sewing probably makes me come off as super experienced. Iโ€™ve done enough projects that Iโ€™m reasonably confident.

But I am just about to finish (hemming and finishing aside) the first garment Iโ€™ve made since I was like. 12.

I copied off someone else who winged the pattern. I had to put in gores because the shoulders werenโ€™t wide enough. I ran out of cotton thread halfway through and switched to polyester, which was not the worst thing ever because the blue of the polyester is a much better match, color-wise. I screwed up wrong-side right-side because Iโ€™ve never done piecing before and so some of my seams are on the outside now. But Iโ€™m so so so close to finishing and I was honestly worried I wouldnโ€™t be able to finish any clothes, Iโ€™ve done so much starting and stopping.

Iโ€™m gonna scream. I canโ€™t wait to try it on and see if the gores worked or if I need to add another one in the back.

This is WRONG I am underestimating my sewing experience again

First of all I made hand-sewn tippets and two hats over the last couple of years

And SECONDLY Iโ€™m sure thereโ€™s other things Iโ€™ve forgotten because I keep remembering random items like an embroidered bookmark.

I didnโ€™t sew much for a long time because my other sewing definitely needs a tune up. But I did sew, garments included.
