frankly I prefer the movie over the comic, for three reasons:

1) lewis prothero as a rush limbaugh/glenn beck/bill o’reilly type is both more applicable and way funnier than a 1940s radio propagandist 

2) it has stephen fry as gordon detriech, and makes him explicitly gay and pretending to be attracted to evey as part of being closeted than actually attracted to evey and having sex with her while she hides in his home.

3) the movie came out in 2005; that is, only four years after 9/11, while the Iraq war was still in full swing, and while xenophobia and Islamophobia were not just acceptable, but tacitly encouraged by the administration at the time. which makes the following exchange even more poignant and sweet:

I did a quick google search to confirm, and it turns out Catherine Murphy(who took this video) is the president of Townsville Bat and Wildlife Rescue, which is a charity/not-for-profit org registered with the Australian government.

So i think it's pretty safe to say she knows what she's doing.

Here is a news article that interviews Catherine. Apparently Townsville had a heatwave and the baby bat was trying to get a sip to drink when she fell in. The bat was kept for monitoring before being released again.

As a wildlife carer who lives in Townsville i just want to correct that midna person above you because yes we don't have rabies in ground based mammals but that does not mean we are rabies free. We do a relative of rabies called Australian Bat Lyssavirus that causes rabies and has killed lay people.

As an Australian if you see an injured bat or flying fox do not fall for the misinformation that we do not have rabies, if you do get it and do not get post exposure prophylaxis vaccines you will die. That is guaranteed, no if's or buts. Catherine who saved the baby flying fox is vaccinated as most wildlife carers are against rabies.

So if you see an injured bat here in Australia, for the love of God do not touch it or move it but contact a wildlife carer like this woman. Do not risk your life for misinformation.

Despite everything that the organisation has been through, the closure of a 25 year old nonprofit is still a tragedy, and my heart goes out to everyone that’s grieving from this. Nano has hurt a lot of people, but it meant a lot to so many, and I will be sorry to see that go.

Even if I don’t agree with many things in the recent video, I can agree with the sentiment of one slide.

I will update you all if and when relevant information comes out. Despite everything, I now doubt that this will be my last post.
