hello

I’ve made a little website about the Belgica Expedition. it is actively under construction; I’ve updated it multiple times a day since launching it last week. this is mostly meant to be a way to corral all of the research I’ve been doing and to share my very amateur translations of various expedition-related texts with anyone who might be interested. please feel free to peruse the site and contact me via email or on here with any questions or suggestions!

so i've had the worst sinus infection the past three days and i've been languishing on the couch,,, however,,,, i also listened to a shackleton biography on audiobook and became obsessed with finishing this project lmao

the sleeves have the years of the expedition embroidered on them, as well as holes for the thumbs! if you see my sloppy stitches on the thumb holes no you don't <3

pictures of my assistant (achilles) under the read more

Last night we let Nothing speak. Last night was no movie, no image, a blank page. got so fucked up last night off zero drinks that i ended up making no actions, much to the embarrassment of no one, who wasn't there.

look i don't mean to be rude but if the fic isn't historical guy x television counterpart then what is it doing being tagged as both "The Terror (2018)" and "Polar Explorer RPF"

and on top of everything else, people are cross-posting terror fanfic in the wrong tag again. MOOOOOM

hello do yoj ever think about de gerlache wanting to keep danco's corpse around like shauna with jackie in yellowjackets s2 so they could bury him in belgium where adg would be able to visit his grave and lecointe and raco having to be like no we're not doing that. "leave it on the pack ice in a coffin" they'd already been drifting for months if fred had agreed to do the embalming adg would've been like ohhh well we can't leave him out there actually we'll lose track of him. better keep him on the ship i'll definitely act normal about that

this but they are both adult men from belgium in the rat-infested hold of a ship trapped in antarctic pack ice

btw the above is from Lecointe’s book but in AdG’s version of events he says they decided as a group that keeping Danco on board would endanger the health of the living. like the above passage was how Lecointe decided to try to spin those events so it would be less obvious that AdG was trying to keep Danco’s corpse on board for the duration of their voyage
