eleven year olds need book series filled to the brim with violence and crime. it's like enrichment for them

if your childhood favourite books don't make you look back and go "man i should not have been reading that, what the fuck" then you're doing it wrong

Currently losing my mind thinking about how badly Maya wanted to save Miles in Turnabout Goodbyes.

How she, despite (mostly) only knowing Miles as the asshole he is in AA1, recognized that he's important to Phoenix and did everything she could to help him without question or complaint.

How she tried as hard as she could to channel Mia and ask for her guidance, and beat herself up endlessly lamented neglecting her training when she struggled to reach her spirit.

How she interrupted the judge's verdict on the first trial day to call Lotta's testimony into question, and got thrown into contempt of court as a result, taking full responsibility for her outburst and insisting Phoenix not be punished for it.

How she enthusiastically pursued any and all leads during the investigation to find the clues that could help Miles be found innocent, even if they seemed meaningless (re: the Gourdy escapade).

How her first instinct upon being threatened by a taser-wielding Manfred was not to run, but to JUMP ON HIM and snatch the evidence he was carrying.

How she was the one to make the connection between Phoenix's theory that the DL-6 murderer had been shot, and Grossberg's comment that Manfred had taken a vacation after DL-6, and immediately shared her realization with Phoenix.

How the bullet she stole ended up being the decisive evidence needed to declare Miles not guilty.

How Miles would have been declared guilty on several occasions if not for many of these actions.

How even despite all this she STILL claimed she was basically useless and resolved to return to her village for training so she doesn't have to feel like a burden to Phoenix.

All for a man who once tried to have both her AND her best friend found guilty of murder.

Maya Fey is the MVP of Turnabout Goodbyes and I WILL NOT STAND FOR ANYONE SAYING SHE ISN'T I love her so fucking much

The spambots trying to trick you into giving them money by doing a "hey can I commission you" scam. Evil. Like "Oh boy I posted my art! And someone left a comment!" and then you look and its [generic automatic tumblr url] asking "do you do commissions?". Like head in my hands.

Ace Attorney may suffer from an absolutely inane amount of character/plot bloat, but the one kind of cool thing that results from that is the absolute variety contained within the fandom.

Every single character has their ardent fans, and there are people obsessed with every single plot beat, main plot relevance be damned. I know it definitely feeds into infighting (how dare you not care about/care about [insert plot/character here], etc) but when people are civil it makes this a really fun fandom to be a part of.

I like how (from what I know) the most popular Detective Badd ships are just. Badd x Father of a main character who is going to die so so so badly. Like can we get than man a guy who is alive?

Alternatively ship him with more dead dads. Dhurkebadd. Berrybad. Archibadd. Zakbadd

Ace Attorney is really just the single dad series. Or like. Technically single but definitely has a gay thing going on dad series. Like, I’m specifically thinking of Phoenix with Trucy and Herlock with Iris but tbh there's other examples (less of the gay vibes but single dads)

Like the non Phoenix or Herlock dads vary in quality but it's still a LOT of single dads. Reginald Berry, Archie Buff, I guess Blaise? (is the talking about Sebastians mom still canon? ...was it ever canon? Or just a commonly accepted fan thing?) Yujin, Arthur Cantabella, Zak for a couple years, Drew Misham. And thats just off the top of my head/characters that are canon adopted or bio kids. If you get into like. "commonly accepted parental vibes characters"... (gestures to Edgeworth and Kay) (I don't necessarily vibe with that but its very common in the fandom)

...not as many single moms. Still some obviously, but I feel like Single Mom is a more common thing to see in a lot of things (especially things set in modern day) than single dad

FORGOT GREG. HOW COULD I FORGET GREG

honestly kudos to Elementary for gender swapping John Watson in what we all thought was an attempt to make johnlock palatable to the masses and then proceeding to not only make them entirely platonic but also become the ONLY modern adaptation where i actually feel like them being platonic makes complete sense
