society demands hyperfemininity from trans women, then if we do it wrong we're mocked and belittled and if we do it right we're "reinforcing gender stereotypes"

#this is a prime example of how transmisogyny works and why it's such a necessary concept#women both cis and trans are held to high standards of gender performance#through things like makeup and dress etc#in order to establish their womanhood and difference from men#often these things are restrictive or symbolic of womens role as passive objects of beauty and homemakers#but due to trans women's unique association with masculinity they are held to such higher standards#often encouraged to physically change the way their body looks EVEN WHEN there are plenty of cis women with that exact feature#who will not get nearly half of the criticism for it that trans women get#in order to fulfill the expected role trans women are required to completely rid themseleves of any presentation or body feature#that could have any minute connection to masculinity or maleness#there is a hyper feminine standard for trans women that is simply not enforced in the same way on cis women#and then of course because of wider transphobia they sre then criticised for this performance as being stereotyping#or wanting to be barbie dolls rather than real women#and like obviously cis women will still be criticised for wearing casual clothes or having a strong nose bridge or whatever#but not to the same degree#and not in the same way#and obviously complete refusal to conform or intentionally adopting masculinity will be highly punished if youre a cis or trans woman#but its like the dial of gender expectations is turned up to ten#and people refuse to admit that the reason trans women sometimes present hyperfemininity#is exactly the same reason that cis women wear makeup and shave their legs#but then transphobes decide that trans women are uniquely performative because of not having innate womanly motivation or whatever the fuck#like misogyny when applied to trans women. or really to any women with a higher percieved connection to masculinity#(read: black women. queer women etc. and intersections of these identities)#has a unique and often more agressive character#when you are trying to exist as a woman and society views you as dangerously close to maleness abd masculinity#you are punished. aggressively#and held to incredibly high standards in order to aleviate your proposed threat#and mocked and delegitimised for exactly the same reasons#being a woman is shit hard#and facing that intersection of womanhood and percieved masculinity is often shit hard-er

I miss getting crazy anon hate it's so fun, everyone is too nice to me. Need some controversy

Physical media is really awesome but please don’t discount sites like Bandcamp where you can buy DRM-free digital media. Buying raw media files lets you:

- Store a collection of millions of songs on a single hard drive (or burn them to CDs yourself!)

- Directly support artists, even those without the time/clout/resources to sell physical media

- With 20 minutes of effort, share your media library with anyone, anywhere, as much as you want.

Giant publishing companies are trying *really hard* to convince everyone that digital media is synonymous with you-don’t-own-shit streaming services, eternal subscription fees, and locked-down snoopscope video players. But there’s a reason so many artists sell their works online without those catches. Go support them!
