I’m back with more drawings of marine life! This colourful Hawaiian fish is commonly known as a ‘reef triggerfish’ but actually holds the title (literally) for the fish with the longest name!
I think they’re really cool little guys, they’re really territorial (and rather grumpy) and they have big teeth to bite chunks out of rocks which they spit out as sand after eating the algae and minerals.
This fish’s name literally translates to “fish with a snout like a pig’s” and it’s the national fish of Hawaii.
Another fun fact is that it has a double spine (one on its back and one on its belly) so it can flatten itself to squeeze into cracks in rocks.
