Wanted to make a post about what's going on in turkey but I'm so fucking tired

Please reblog this. They unlawfully stopped showing the live feeds and ordered all news channels to stop filming

It looks like today is going to be a night of checking up with my friends to see which ones of them are now unemployed… Tumblr seems to have been hit hard

It looks like developers, both web and mobile, are the biggest group in the 280 people laid off

After publication, we began hearing more about which orgs were impacted from various sources. According to at least one source, just north of 100 were from WooCommerce. We’ve also heard Tumblr, Day One, and the AI orgs were impacted. In the U.S., layoffs spanned roles, including account execs, marketing, product (management and design), sales, community, business operations, and more. The default severance package is just 9 weeks.

voice acting as a profession is so funny because you'll see someone being like "voice actors need to be paid better! like [obscure person you've never heard of]" and you're like "oh I wonder who that person is, maybe I've heard them voice a character" and you look it up and it turns out they voice 137 characters in Futurama and 94 characters in The Simpsons and 96 characters in Adventure Time and every one of the My Little Ponies and 27 characters in Arcane and 96 characters in Kim Possible and 4 characters in Phineas and Ferb and 296 characters in Dexter's Laboratory and all of the main cast of Fairly Odd Parents and at least 6 characters in every Pixar movie and almost every animated depiction of Superman and 473 SpongeBob characters and they've been in every installment of Mass Effect and Halo and The Elder Scrolls and Fallout and Call of Duty and they were in Star Trek and Law & Order and they were 12 characters in the MCU and they also invented t-shirts and the colour green and they got paid a sum total of $3.27 and a mothball for all of it combined. then you go burn down David Zaslav's house with him inside

luigi mangione facing the death penalty just seems like a bad decision for america. so there's this guy that everyone loves and considers a hero, and we arrested him after very obviously planting fake evidence. and now we're going to subject him to an unfair trial and kill him at the end. there's no way anyone will be mad about that right

I think the worst part about Israel's "response" to October 7 has been the response to the response from Israel's allies and supporters. I think that far too many people have internalised the idea that Israel's genocide in Gaza will somehow always be justified because of October 7 and the remaining hostages. Even this current round of bombings, which has mostly killed women and children, after what was supposed to eventually become a permanent ceasefire. At the end of the day, this is not really about whether Israel has a "right" to respond or about how far it can go before it hits a red line or whatever. It's not really about Hamas either. It's the fact that Israel can impose a regime of starvation and restrict aid to most of the strip, and no one does anything. It's about the fact that much of the world's leaders and politicians have sat back and allowed Israel to commit wanton murder on whoever it likes whether that be women, children, men, aid workers, civil service workers, and so forth. It's the fact that the world has effectively allowed Israel to set a precedent where they can just bomb any hospital or building just because "Hamas hides there and uses it as a base." At this point, I don't think it matters whether these claims can be substantiated because we're at a point where nobody is asking Israel to provide evidence. Israel can just bomb any building and trot out that excuse, and the world turns a blind eye. Israel can justify the murder of tens or hundreds of people by claiming a Hamas fighter is amongst them, and the world turns a blind eye.

I love a woman with a loud ass laugh. I love a cackle. I love a guffaw. Love when a bitch laughs so hard it scares the dog. Be unapologetic in your joy.

i feel like there's a tendency to describe things that are liberal as fascist in a way that lets liberalism off the hook- as if genocide and segregation are exclusive to fascism, and as if liberal nations haven't engaged in genocide and segregation as well for as long as they've existed. if we posit that countries like the united states of america, israel, australia, etc are fascist and not liberal then the term liberal just doesn't mean anything. this also gives fascism too much credit-no nation built on fascist principles could last as long as any of the previously listed genocidal liberal nations. similarly, an individual can be bigoted, even genocidal, and still be a liberal.

the thing's funny about people being annoyed at "ai artists" who claim they're artists for asking a machine to draw something for them, is that there's an equally common "techbro" on the opposite side of the spectrum who acts like ai imagine generators are like. conscious? and sentient? and share the same political opinions they do? so they're ask ai to like draw a blue haired liberal feminist crying and go "omg ai agrees that blue haired liberal feminists are whiny" like no you did that actually.

alot of reactionaries find ai amazing because they think it'll magically know the objective truth to the universe without being affected by human biases, and also that it'll happen to agree with everything they already believe in.

What leftists fear isn’t an ~imperfect candidate~

What leftists fear is a democrat will take the reins from Trump, continue on the same path only with better PR, and then half the angry voices we thought were backing us up have suddenly disappeared.

A lot of people who got pissed at me for making this post in 2019 owe me an apology
