WHAT DO YOU WANT?

Letters to Véra by Vladimir Nabokov • This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar • Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami • The Passion According to G.H. by Clarice Lispector • During the Impossible age of Everyone by Ada Limón • Translations by Kathryn Nuernberger • Letters Home by Sylvia Plath •

hey bro can i ask you a question that will reveal a deep and fundamental gap in my knowledge of the world

You know I dropped this in my queue as standard tumblr fare but actually, you know what? This is it. This is the definition of friendship, right here. Admitting that kind of vulnerability in pursuit of closing a gap you're aware of having is one of the greatest forms of trust you can offer another human being. People are pretty shame-motivated, as a species; offering yourself up for shame and ridicule, willingly letting yourself look "stupid" in the pursuit of knowledge, is trusting that someone has your back to a degree that goes well beyond physical safety. That's the kind of friendship we all deserve to have in our lives.

Everyone wanted to be thicc but nobody wanted to be fat. Everyone wanted the dad bod but nobody wanted to be fat. Everyone wants fat mommy milkers but nobody wants mommy to be fat. Everyone wants to be a bear but not like, an actual fat bear. You get what i’m saying

Everyone wants the mistique of fatness or use the language of fatness to denote hotness without actually being fat or acknowledging that fat people or fatness can just be hot.

things i want

  • every couple broken
  • valentine's day banned
  • $3 boba price cap
  • $20 concert ticket price cap
  • all advertisement made illegal
  • more forum websites and furthermore all search engines should return the most relevant human-written answer from a forum instead of AI summary bullshit
  • a cool bar that is a 10 minute walk from where i live
  • the 40 minute work week

Sounds like a degree from Columbia, something students pay to attain, is not the long-term guarantee it was once thought to be. Sounds like a good reason to transfer out, not apply there, and never plan to attend. If they can just take your degree away after you've already earned it, what good is it?

And to be clear: this isn't a thing. Serial killers don't get their degrees revoked. War criminals don't get their degrees revoked. This is straight up fascist nonsense that makes a degree from this institution categorically a bad investment.
