Feelin Like An Alien 👽

@queerlien / queerlien.tumblr.com

Wow it's been a few years since I updated this. I went hiatus for awhile but Tumblr is still here. I am artsy and mentally ill, you can't have one without the other, amirite? Enjoy the chaos. Terfs, trumpies, racists, misogynists, you can fuck right off! Thanks! 😊

Say what you will about 4chan, but it was one of the only major sites left on the internet that didn't involve navigating some kind of pervasive "algorithm".

Its uncensored, anonymous structure also allowed news, leaks, and pirated media to circulate without risk of being taken down. The internet has once again become a smaller, more corporatized space.

All those jokes about Tumblr being the social media platform of last resort every time another big player shits the bed are gonna stop being funny real fast if we end up getting a big influx of ex-4channers.

the reason "robot racism" is often a really stupid metaphor is the same reason that like. discrimination against demons or vampires or whatever doesn't work, is because there's often a pretty justified reasons humans are scared of vampires or robots or whatever, in a way that doesn't apply to real life minorities, like a fantasy author will be like "the reason vampires are discriminated against is because most of them and kill and eat people for fun and pleasure, and so humans respond by trying to kill them, isn't that so sad" and like no that's a perfectly fine reason to not trust vampires i think.

sci-fi writers will be like "every robot on earth randomly decided to kill all humans for no real reason, and now people don't trust robots, and this is a metaphor for racism" and like no you just wrote a metaphor for white people actually.

two gay men got arrested for fucking in a public bathroom but they argued since you had to pay for it it was a hotel and it was fine. their defence worked and we dont have to pay for bathrooms anymore

Ok guys I know we want to celebrate victories in queer history but

1. Googling "Canada gay sex pay toilets" just brings up a bunch of reblogs of this post

2. There does not seem to have been any sort of norm of public toilets in Canada charging money to use in the 20th century

3. I am neither Canadian nor a lawyer but I find it extremely hard to believe that there is any jurisdiction on earth where charging money to use a public toilet makes it legally constitute a hotel room and therefore OK to have sex in.

thats because i lied about this

reminder that it’s okay to still feel bad sometimes even if you’re doing “better.” it’s okay to feel out of control when things are going “right.” and it’s okay to still seek support even if it doesn’t look like you “need” it.

okay but if you ever see a male creative who had a string of great work and then everything else he did was dogshit, go to the "personal life" part of his wikipedia and look at his relationships. you'll either find a major tragedy he didn't recover from (completely understandable) or, more likely, there was a woman in his life doing uncredited shit editing his stuff or contributing generally and she's not there anymore.

I told a friend about this phenomenon in literature and he called me weeks later like, I remembered what you said about women doing uncredited work when tim burton came up. he made a string of bangers then everything else just was nowhere near as good. the timeline matches perfectly to when he was with this german visual artist (lena gieseke). he's done some good work in collaboration, but if things were dug into I suspect we would find she did a lot more than people realise.

so yeah whenever you look around like wow women didn't work in history, or, women aren't auteurs, or, there just aren't as many great female writers - societal reasons for that aside, half the time they absolutely did.

Hell yeah

game that starts off as straight horror but the more the protagonist learns about the world, the less scary it gets

Either you grew up in a storybook or you don't remember childhood. Childhood is a time of random dangers where nobody with any strength or power takes your fears or concerns seriously and any chance of getting help is entirely random chance based on whether it makes an adult feel sufficiently good about themselves to help you instead of ignore you. A four year old's world is a fucking scary one and there's nothing they can do about it, and if they try to get help or information then they're "being a nuisance" or "throwing a tantrum".

kinda fucked how a full-blown mental breakdown/ugly sobbing crying episode is supposed be like, all good for your soul and whatever but it always comes with insane headache/congestion shit. like yeah i scream-exorcised a rotting part of myself but at what cost.

what they don't tell you is that a well-written fic can get you to ship anything, and i mean ANYTHING. notp? not anymore. you will stay up late thinking about and crying over them for the rest of your life. characters you don't even know from a piece of media you've never engaged with? fuck it, they belong to you now. problematic ship that you loved to hate and now just love to love, that you must never tell your friends about? don't worry, ao3 knows how to keep a secret. like. a well-written fic will have you acting UP and that's a fact baby !!
