The Black Keys (SalTommy)
people love to hate on tommy for the closet joke and “abandoning buck by the side of the road” but let’s just be real for a moment.
buck is 33 and BEEFY. he is unlikely to be in danger on the sidewalk at 8pm in downtown LA. he’s a grown man capable of calling his own uber to get home, he’s not a little child.
also tommy was completely justified in both those instances and the show shows us that.
like buck had essentially shoved tommy back in the closet before the closet joke, and i actually think tommy handled that with grace and care. he could’ve been pissed but instead he understood that buck was in a new situation.
he even says this when he cuts the date short- he doesn’t think buck is ready. he also says later on he didn’t cut it short because buck “behaved badly”, but because it’s a very new thing to buck and wants to make sure he’s ready.
a lot of people take that as “he’s doubting bucks sexuality” but i always understood it as “tommy thinks buck isn’t ready to be seen in public on a date with a man” which tommy can probably understand. and the reason why tommy thinks that is shown two minutes earlier- buck lies about them being on a date.
i think tommy did the right thing and i think he was justified in doing that. he shouldn’t have to go back in the closet after the journey he’s been through, it’s his choice if he wanted to, but he doesn’t have to. he didn’t walk out on buck, he wasn’t rude or mean, he still paid and told buck the truth. but he wasn’t in the wrong.
i feel this is a very complicated situation to talk about because everyone’s going to have different thoughts and opinions, but i also feel it’s important to have these conversations civilly. we all have different experiences in real life and we’ll all have different interpretations of what’s shown on screen.
what i don’t think is up for debate, however, is slating tommy for his actions, because it’s not portrayed in the show as an asshole move. buck understands it, the other characters understand it, and it’s even resolved.
(my bitchy moment: i think a lot of this goes over peoples heads because people are so young and haven’t had these real life experiences. they only know what they’ve seen on tv, not how the real world works)
Exactly, Annie ❤️
Finally! A new chapter of 10 Weddings is up 🥳 Just FYI the rating goes up in this chapter - enjoy! 🩷
Sal’s grips Tommy’s shoulder like he might drown if he lets go, burying his other hand in Tommy’s wet hair, scratching blunt nails against his scalp as he kisses him. Tommy lets out a moan of surprise, hands flailing, hovering above Sal’s shoulders as if he doesn’t know if he’s allowed to touch. It’s only when he feels Sal begin to pull back that Tommy’s brain snaps into gear and he surges forward and pulls him into his arms, cupping the back of his head and grabbing a fistful of soaking-wet shirt. Sal tastes like wine, chlorine and the lingering sweetness of wedding cake frosting. He makes a muffled sound of relief and Tommy feels the curve of his grin against his lips before they both sink into the kiss and lose themselves in each other and the cradle of the water.

He trails the tip of his finger over the web-like scars wrapped around his arm. It should tingle. Maybe itch.
He feels nothing at all.
The arm is functioning, at least. He can grasp small objects, like coins, and hold slippery stuff, like ice cubes. But he has to think about it. He doesn't even feel pressure.
(He's tried with a thumb tack. Watched as a bead of blood formed on the end of his thumb. Sucked the blood off. Thought about Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter.)
"Guess I need to find a different career," Tommy says to the doctor.
"The nerves may grow back over time," Dr Priya says, but she is utterly neutral about it. "Give it six months, a year. We'll see if anything happens."
Tommy likes her. He doesn't need false hope.

Rocker and Luca aren’t exactly friends, not exactly enemies. Frenemies, maybe? Rocker needs a huge favour from Luca to make sure he doesn’t lose his job. The cost of the favour isn’t something Rocker had ever thought Luca would want, especially from him.
“What would it be worth to you if I did this favour for you?” Luca asks taking a step closer to Rocker. “What would you be willing to give me, or do for me if I fix her and you get to stay in SWAT?” Luca’s tone growing more intense, his eyes piercing Rocker’s.
“What do you want?” Rocker manages to ask gulping down what he really wanted to blurt out. Unsure if voicing the idea would get him a punch in the mouth or not. He will have to analyse why it’s what he really wanted to say later, when all the blood isn’t rushing from his big brain and heading south.
“I can think of a few things.” Luca replies running his gaze from Rocker’s lips all the way down his body, it feels like a hand is being brushed along his skin.
the first part to this video of lou’s answer to why tommy calls buck ‘evan’
please please please please reblog if you’re a writer and have at some point felt like your writing is getting worse. I need to know if I’m the only one who’s struggling with these thoughts
uh i’m sure this has probably been said many times in the last year but i was really just smacked in the face with a thought. i can finally articulate a feeling i’ve had since 7x04 aired.
i don’t think tommy calls buck by his first name because that’s how he was introduced. i don’t think buck was flustered or anything like that. i think he calls him evan because buck is a nickname, and nicknames are usually for friends, and i don’t believe tommy felt he earned the privilege to use a nickname for someone he just met. because tommy’s a loner, and he tends to keep a polite distance. he knows a million people but he goes to bars alone to watch a game. so he opted for evan, not realizing how personal that choice actually was. i think by going with evan, he inadvertently distinguished himself. tommy accidentally put himself out there.
Oh Tommy honey in the process of trying to be polite you managed to catch Evan Buckleys hook, line and sinker. His heart, his attention, his entire person became yours to do whatever you wanted with
I know we’ve discussed this ad nauseam, but Tommy is so queer coded in the begins episodes. I’m watching chimney begins rn (absolute banger of an episode btw Kenny Choi deserved an Emmy for this) and that background exchange between Gerard and Tommy about Tommy’s girlfriend coming to cook for them. Gerard asks him if he promises she’s gonna come next Tuesday and Tommy goes “uh…uh yea. Yea I uh..I uh will promise”. It’s such a minor thing and is easily overlooked, but it tells so much about Tommy’s character. I cannot believe they wrote the most perfect closeted, comes out later in life, character by accident. Now we have the opportunity to really explore that and I’m so excited
100% this and it just lends even more weight to the red string of fate theory, because there's no way they were consciously planning this storyline for Tommy back in S2.
You know who really benefitted from Buck and Tommy getting together? Sal Deluca.
Sal was a minor character last seen six seasons ago and only appeared in 7 fics on A03....until April 4, 2024 and now he's in in 456 fics.
The power of Bucktommy.
Also Gino Anthony Pesi is hot af so of course we’ve latched onto Sal 🤣🤷🏻♀️

Buck set the heavy bag on his dining room table. It was filled with tomatoes, carrots, eggplant and zucchini, bits of dirt still clinging to the stems and leaves. There were also plump strawberries and a bundle of thyme. The aromas were strong under Buck’s sensitive nose.
He had discovered it outside his door and wondered if someone had accidentally delivered their groceries to the wrong address—until he saw a note peeking out between some colorful bell peppers. It had familiar handwriting.
Buck picked it up and read it.
I have more than I know what to do with. Figured you could probably find a good use for them.

A trio of sunflowers were hanging over the side of the bag. Buck found a vase for them and gave them some water to drink.
Nobody had ever given him flowers before.
And nobody was around to see him stick his face in them like a lovesick dummy wolf.
His emotions were being goofy. He was probably making a bigger deal over this than he should’ve.
Everything was from Tommy’s garden, though. He had planted, tended, and hand-picked it all. They were the literal fruits of his labor, and he was giving them to Buck, of all people.
What did it mean?
Buck picked up his phone, opting for something silly instead of serious.
This is a pretty big🍆
