A bite-sized audio adaptation of the horror classic.

Welcome to Re: Dracula

We're a bite-sized audio adaptation of the horror classic. Think Dracula Daily for your ears!

Re: Dracula takes the famous horror tale, breaks it up chronologically (every entry of this epistolary novel has a date), and sends the story directly to your podcatcher as it happens. Every time something happens to the characters, Re: Dracula will publish an episode, in real time.

This audio drama is a faithful adaptation of the story we know and love, featuring a full cast to tug on your heartstrings and sound design to keep you on the edge of your seat. Content warnings will be present at the top of episodes, where needed.

We're currently working on a adaption of Carmilla, funded via our Patreon and set to air spring 2025.

here is a little bat to banish your sadness

This nice little bat reminds me of this other nice little bat who was drawn in the 1200s:

This is the only website where I routinely see people say things like “oh this reminds me of something I recently saw from the 1200s”

Re: Carmilla, Episode 14, The Meeting THOUGHTS

The sword and axe sound effects were so good! The swishes at Carmilla in Bertha's room, the miss into the wood, the clatter on the ground. Very small, but they add texture to the scenes

Love the hisses and snarls from Carmilla (Catmilla).

Small kudos to the General for reading the 'crazy' proto-Van Helsing doctor's note and, in a way totally antithetical to the Classic Supernatural-Disbelieving Patriarch trope, he actually throws up his hands and decides Fine. I'll give it a chance. and camps out per the doctor's suggestion. Cue Millarca reveal. For all the clear anti-queer undercurrents to the whole bullshit LESBIANS ARE COMING TO RUIN YOUR DAUGHTERS scare factor, in the pure surface text he is technically being more proactive and non-oblivious than Laura's father, who has still obviously not connected a single dot yet between Bertha's situation and his own daughter's

Heartbreaking: The homophobe-coded old man recognized what genre he was in first

And then of course we end with the General telling our young maiden protagonist to run away to the pastor/church to save herself from the wicked gay seductress monster. Because subtlety. 🤡

My "Six weeks until we hear from our good friend Jonathan Harker" post went somewhat viral.

I've had several folks in my ask box and in replies inquire how they can be part of the "experience the novel DRACULA in real time" phenomenon this year.

So here's one of the replies I just sent.

There's two ways to follow along.

If you want to read along, you can subscribe to the Substack and get the entries in your email. https://draculadaily.substack.com/

If you want to listen to the ABSOLUTELY BANGER full cast audio drama [with transcripts], you can access it with your favorite listening platform via https://redracula.live/.

You can also get lots of thoughtful analysis and fanart by tracking the Tumblr tags #dracula daily and #re: dracula.

Hope this helps!

Disclaimer: I am not affilated with either DRACULA DAILY or with Re: Dracula. I'm just a humble bookseller, just another fan, enjoying this annual Tumblr tradition.

Happy TDoV from your local lil liminal gas station attendant.

rec me your fave podcasts/audio fictions with trans/nonbinary/gnc/genderqueer in some way characters!

Happy trans day of visibility! Trans friends, know that you are seen and loved 💙🩷🤍

I did promise to finish up The Count when I posted Lucy a (long) while back, so here he is. Both before and after feeding, I wanted him to look more human and younger but not young per se. He still came out too good looking, I recon but meh.

This is what I kept picturing while listening to @re-dracula either way!
