You know I’m not that big of a fan about how trans men’s experiences are still centered around cis women and that there is a lot of people think that trans men’s experiences are just being “treated like a women” instead of a unique thing that cis women don’t experience at all.

If you describe trans men oppression as simply ‘being treated as a woman’ you fundamentally misunderstand the transmasculine experience.

When will trans men be treated as our own thing instead of being treated as just a weird strange version of cis womenhood that has no unique experiences.

Always check if the author of a book/essay that is supposedly about trans men is cis. Because if they are half the book/essay is going to be about cis women with some throw away line like “oh and then there’s some dumb weird women females who identify as male. But they don’t have any unique experiences and are just treated as masculine women. Duhh!! #femalesisterhood Anyway back to cis women”

#Never forget when I read a book about the women's house of detention and the author was like - #'yeah they used to waterboard and murder females that referred to themselves as men here but -'#'but I'm gonna focus on the horror of this one cis woman having a love triangle' #Followed by 'this person who kept saying they wanted to be a man might have been transmasc but we can never know so I used she/her for this #And this was a book that was celebrated for it's “acknowledgement of transmasculine people” #hen it turns out that trans man they kept misgendering helped lead lesbian community organizations #that's why it's valid to misgender him #Obviously /srs #Anyway most published books given congratulations about transmasc inclusion are at best something that has us in the footnotes#And at worse something that actively erases or attacks us

yeah! every book ive been told acknowledges the way trans men have been historically abused (especially in medical settings by being institutionalized) has always misgendered, ignored, and erased trans men. and we are just expected to put up with it because 'at least they are trying to be inclusive' and if you keep pushing them about the way they erase trans men you get painted as an evil trans person who wants cis women to stop talking about feminism.
