Things fall apart
Summary: Sherlock counts on John to know how to pivot. John hopes he's done it right.
All the time spent missing Sherlock had faded John's memory of his annoying dickishness, but today had brought it all back. It was Sherlock Holmes in a nutshell:
Ignoring him for a month, but not telling him why.
Turning up high in a filthy drug den, but denying heโd relapsed.
Treating him like a moron for being surprised he was dating Sally Donovan, of all people.
Bringing him to a burglary, but not telling him that. Oh, and add the taunting: โYouโre really not a natural at this, are you?โ
Getting in by proposing to Maryโs friend Janine, but not telling John that was his plan.
Setting off upstairs following a scentโliterallyโand leaving him behind, as usual. (At least this time it was to tend the injured.)
Itโd been too long already: he called softly, twice. Oh, not that distinctive name, of course, just โyou okay up there?โ
Ch. 14 will post on April 1st.๐
