Sansa IV Update (or lack thereof)

I know it's been a minute, I appreciate how patient y'all have been 💕 The Sansa IV outline is basically done and I'm planning to work on the prose later this week 🤞🏻

Thus far, my spring break has been super busy with wedding prep DIY. I've decorated favor boxes using sharpies and a homemade stencil, made homemade truffles to fill them, and made 2,100 leaves and 270 flowers out of card stock. I'm tired and my hands hurt, but it's worth it to save money for fertility treatments 😮‍💨

Speaking of which, my fiancé and I had our first fertility clinic appointment today and it went well— mostly. The doctor recommends that we harvest my eggs ASAP. Why? Apparently, being 35 means that my eggs' quality is lowering with every month of delay. Lower quality eggs mean a lower chance of healthy embryos and lower chances of a successful live birth 😕

Ideally, we'd love to do an IVF cycle in June right after the wedding. The only issue is that full payment must be made at the start of treatment.

Unfortunately, stressing about affording IVF has been another factor in my writing slow down. While the support for our GoFundMe thus far has been absolutely incredible, it isn't nearly enough to cover the expense of moving forward with fertility treatments. My fiancé has a small amount of savings and I'm applying for summer and part-time jobs, plus working on finding grants that help couples suffering from infertility, but... it's a lot.

We were able to have that fertility appointment this morning thanks to the generosity of donors to our GoFundMe. If reading The Weirwood Queen has meant anything to you, even the smallest donation would mean everything to me 💕

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

bonus it ALSO fills that dopamine hit of in-person shopping. “oh I didn’t go in looking for this but hmm, I’m tempted… I can’t resist… oh ho ho I have made some irresponsible decisions at the library today [carrying my stack of ten random books]” and then it doesn’t even matter if you don’t like them because a) free b) you’re gonna give them back anyway

Librarian here! Please please please please PLEASE do this! We don’t have any way to know if you read them, and we don’t care! We’re happy to see those books go out because that helps our stats. And that affects how much money we can get.

So grab that silly paperback romance, and maybe this new YA fantasy, oh and check for the new movies too! And don’t forget to check Libby and hoopla for music and ebooks and e-audio.

There's an EU initiative going on right now that essentially boils down to wanting to force videogame publishers with paid games and/or games with paid elements such as DLC, expansions and microtransactions to leave said games in a playable state after they end support, or in simpler terms, make them stop killing games.

A "playable state" would be something like an offline mode for previously always online titles, or the ability for people to host their own servers where reasonably possible just to name some examples.

I don't think I need to tell anyone that having something you paid for being taken from you is bad, which is a thing that routinely happens with live service and other always online games with a notable recent example being The Crew which is now permanently unplayable.

Any EU citizen is eligible to sign the initiative, but only once and if you mess up that's it. You can find it here. (https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiatives/details/2024/000007_en)

Even if you're not European or you signed it already, you can share this initiative with anyone who is, even if they don't care about videogames specifically because this needs a million signatures and there is different thresholds that need to be met for each EU country for their votes to even count and could also be a precedent for other similar practices like when Sony removed a bunch of Discovery TV content people paid for.

SUPPORT BELOW 50% OF THE THRESHOLD IN THESE COUNTRIES:

Bulgaria - 35% Croatia - 45% Cyprus - 12% (!!!!) Czechia - 47% Greece - 27% Italy - 41% Latvia - 43% Luxembourg - 20% Malta - 11% (!!!!) Romania - 48% Slovakia - 47% Slovenia - 38%

SEVEN countries out of 27 have met the threshold so far. Deadline is 31st July, 2025.

This should absolutely be the law <3

It's not just to have a "do over" that doesn't involve the original cast, it's to cut them out of the royalties. Literally the entire point is to make sure all the money made by Harry Potter goes to transphobes or people willing to work with transphobes.

If you watch it, you are supporting bigotry, hate, and oppression. That's just objective reality. All for a story that you probably have already seen in movie and book form.

I dk how many times artists have to say this, AI art is theft. AI is trained on real artist’s work, it steals from them so that people like the above can pretend to be artists without putting in the work or even the fun.

The worst art you’ve drawn with your own hands is ten times better than any AI GEN garbage and its pollution and thievery.

And this stuff infests the ASOIAF tags like crazy. It’s like none of you care that you’re perpetuating a garbage practice.

I mean, maybe there's some higher-order consideration of dialectical materialism that I'm not seeing that made all of this inevitable regardless of who won the US election, but I'm pretty sure that a hypothetical President Kamala Harris would not be threatening to destroy Canada right now. Like, I am epsilon-less-than-100% certain.

Text: decoupling pregnancy from femininity means accurate and more inclusive language and treatment, but it also allows cis women to refuse motherhood without refusing womanhood, which is great for feminism and terrifying for misogyny.

–THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS. As a sterile cis woman who doesn’t want to have children anyway I feel this is every ounce of my being. “Define woman” types tend to do so in a way that excludes me too, so I got to stand with my trans sisters.

Your periodic reminder that “divine feminine” this “magic womb” that is just patriarchy in gauze and glitter. REJECT THE BOX even when it has a makeover.

If you've enjoyed The Weirwood Queen and would like to show your appreciation, I'd be incredibly grateful if you'd donate to my GoFundMe and help share it far and wide. Infertility really sucks, and every dollar gets my fiancé and I a little closer to our dream of starting a family 💕

I'm so, so touched by the support thus far 💕 Can you help us get to 20 donors by Friday?

12/20! Here's hoping for a couple donations today 🤞🏻

16/20!!! We're so close!
