I’m a woman in the same way sailors refer to the sea

Im a woman in the same way men call cars

I’m a woman in the same way a boat is named

I’m a woman in the same way the most people die from hurricanes purely by their name

I’m a woman in a lovecraftian way

I’m a woman but in a lesbian way: too vast for cismen to understand

I seriously need jkr to kick the bucket so I can actually enjoy Harry Potter again without the insane amount of anger and guilt I feel for even thinking about it

I know I should just get over it but I met someone who I’ve known from it almost 10 years ago and without it I would have never had all of these different opportunities from meeting them and it’s just frustrating. I see people posting about the new parts of universal and id love to be excited but knowing JKR gets money from it just pisses me off. I know it’s stupid but I just want to enjoy something that makes me happy without the excuse of a human being that she is being attached to it

It's so, SO important to share success stories like this. I know an actual JPL engineer who doesn't believe in climate change because, "you never hear about acid rain anymore."

He thinks climate change can be lumped in with acid rain and the ozone layer of "things that were overblown and not really important because no one talks about it anymore."

It didn't even occur to him that we actively fixed the problem. Here's the EPA page on acid rainfall.

From the page:

It's also important to talk about success stories tonfuel hope that we can overcome current and future conservation and environmental issues.

Cory Booker is so close to breaking the record for longest solo filibuster.

In 1957 a racist, white senator Strom Thurmond held the Senate floor for 24 hours and 18 minutes in an effort to delay the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

68 years later, a patriotic, Black senator Cory Booker is currently on hour 21 of his speech, in an effort to save America.

This is action. We need more of this.

To those of us in the US, waking up to Senator Cory Booker from New Jersey currently filibustering in the Senate Chambers. This is a masterclass in using the US Government's policies for potential change. He is filibustering against the current government's actions. This is what a filibuster is supposed to be here for. Between back-and-forth questions with other senators and reading letters from Republican districts, people who won't go see their constituents.

If he reaches the 24-hour mark, he will pass the historical marker of the longest filibuster, which was set in the 60s by Strom Thurmond, who was attempting to stop the Civil Rights Act.

You can watch his filibuster live on TikTok. He is trying to ensure the whole world can see what is happening in the US government and what the people actually want.

lol don’t worry, you are not the first, nor will you be the last, to send me this post with my reply (or replies! I am in the notes several times regarding this post, as I get tagged every time it starts going around) to ask if I’d seen it :)

I have, and it’s lovely, and I never mind seeing peafowl things more than once!

hi, a lot of you need a perspective reset

  • the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years
  • taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult
  • at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)
  • 'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65
  • it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age
  • it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.
  • you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.
  • young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!
  • there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big
