We talk a lot of shit about anime characters not looking their age for a media culture that routinely casts thirty-five-year-old actors to play high schoolers.

I watched the only episode of degrassi I've ever seen in a bar and it took me most of the episode to figure out those were supposed to be teenagers. A character asked another character why he wasn't in uniform and I had to work out the puzzle of why this thirty year old man was expected to wear a uniform.

i genuinely think boats are such good places to set a story because it automatically gives you a set of really interesting circumstances -- boats are transitory, you are not meant to stay on them forever, there is an automatic assumption of ending up somewhere different from where you started...characters are forced into close proximity, stakes are higher, etc. boats also just look cool, so that's always a plus
