Character(s): Eddie Munson, Steve Harrington

Relationship(s): Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson

Summary:

Upon learning Eddie hasn’t been sleeping well post-Vecna, Steve makes it his mission to take Eddie out on various, exhausting excursions in an attempt to tire him out. And Eddie, who’s consistently played hooky from every gym class he’s been enrolled in since middle school, begrudgingly accepts. Why? Because he’s got a big, fat, embarrassing crush on Harrington, that’s why. Also, he’s an idiot.

Or, when jocks date nerds and their worlds inevitably collide.

Summary: Eddie moves to Chicago looking for a new beginning. It doesn’t take long before he finds the community he’s always longed for. Thanks to Robin, his bandmates, and a few new friends he brings his dream of being the owner of a night club to life. Things seem to get even better when Eddie hires Steve, a new bartender, but accepting his feelings for the new member of the team isn’t going to be easy, because new town doesn’t mean new Eddie and he's got monsters to face before finally celebrating with new love.

Summary:

A series of premonitory dreams and visions forebodes the coming of something evil. Eddie knows it’s up to him to try and stop whatever that is. Even if it means putting his life on the line, or face a past he thought he left behind. Dark forces are calling him back home.

People missing, a shady cult, and ritual killings await him in Hawkins, Louisiana. His role in all that might be bigger than he thought, and maybe, this time, he can’t work alone. When the case seems to keep bringing together Eddie, and the newly-arrived local priest and exorcist Steve, he accepts their unlikely collaboration. Surely, they will keep it strictly business, right?

Character(s): Steve Harrington, Eddie Munson, The Party (kids), Robin Buckley, Wayne Munson, Steve Harrington's Mom

Relationship(s): Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson

Summary:

It was the only thing that mattered. Yes, the kids were safe and the cracks were healed. Sure, Robin was curled up on the two-chair loveseat that might as well be made of cardboard and sandpaper for all the comfort it provided, dozing peacefully, maybe for the first time in a week, and he was both envious and so, so grateful. These were good things. And, yeah, his bandages itched, his eyes burned, his stomach growled at him to get up and move and eat something, but that didn’t matter. None of that mattered. The only thing that mattered, that held his attention, was the steady beep of the heart rate monitor as Eddie Munson lay in his hospital bed. Alive.

Steve rescued Eddie and now that they're better, now that they're alive, they move away with Robin and decide that maybe they can have a good life. If Steve could just stop accidentally having really intense sex dreams about a guy he's starting to realize looks a lot like Eddie. Because that would be great.

Summary:

Steve and Dustin return to the Upside Down after Vecna has been defeated to retrieve Eddie's body. It's been over a month since Eddie was taken down by the demobats. They find him half-buried in the ground, being kept alive by a connection to a strange organism, one of the only things still alive in the Upside Down following the defeat of Vecna.

Eddie has been undeniably changed by his connection to the organism in the Upside Down, and the Party all need to chip in to help figure out what's happening to him, and how to fix it. At the same time, a noxious substance is leaking into Hawkins from the Upside Down, spreading at an alarming rate. Is Eddie’s condition the cause, or could it be the solution they need?

Summary:

After years of nonstop touring and song writing, Eddie Munson is careening toward a major burn-out--but doesn’t know how to stop. Steve Harrington is a fledgling actor, known only for being in B-rated slasher flicks, unsure whether he wants to stay the course or do something else entirely.

When Steve models for the band’s new album cover, Eddie immediately wants him however he can get him…even if he doesn’t recognize him quite yet. And once he does, Eddie keeps Steve around—hooking up when their schedules allow and even letting Steve past a few of his walls. But it’s not a relationship.

As the career Steve isn’t sure he wants starts to take off and Eddie’s deadlines loom on the horizon, something’s got to give. Either they’ll have to figure out how to trust one other or Eddie’s going to find himself breaking into pieces alone.

Summary:

Eddie Munson is the freak of Hawkins. Some people whisper behind his back and look at him with pity in their eyes. Others torment and bully him mercilessly. All of them are scared of what he represents. He’s the freak born without a daemon and a reminder that daemons aren’t immortal.

When Eddie Munson follows his new friends on an adventure into the Upside Down, he not only finds something he didn’t even remember having in the first place, but he also learns what really happened to his mom.

It was never about the journey or the battles along the way. It was always about him.

Max nodded like she understood. Maybe she did. Her and her mom didn’t exactly have the white picket fence life that America would make you believe was everyone's God-given right.

“You gotta face him some time.”

“Yeah well, maybe, but right now I’m happy to just not,” Eddie grumbled, turning his attention back to the stove where he was busy trying to remember how to put together the ingredients to his mom’s pot pie. “It’s been me and Wayne since I was little. I’m happy just the way things are.”

Three years after the end of the world, Eddie’s dad is up for parole, and Eddie's past is quickly becoming his future.

Summary: The Munsons had always been cursed. That was something Eddie knew from the very beginning, as long as he could remember. The thing about curses, though, is that sometimes… sometimes they don’t start out that way. He and his sister, Nancy, grew up being told a story of lost love and heartbreak by their mother (Rest in Peace) and then by their omega uncles, Wayne and Benny. Eddie swears he’ll never fall in love, and for most of his life, that rule serves him well. When his sister finds herself in trouble, however, and that trouble follows her home, Eddie learns how far love can go to keep his family safe.

I'm going through Ursula Le Guin's Steering the Craft with a few of my friends (who shall remain unnamed until they give me permission). I'm just going to post the exercises + chapter thoughts on Tumblr. I don't think any of the chapter thoughts would make sense unless you've also read the chapter.

I'm tagging all of them as #steering the craft.

Steering the Craft Ch 1 thoughts

I wonder if this has anything to do with me not being a native speaker. None of the paragraph examples spoke to me. Like... to be honest I actively dislike Mark Twain. I do see what the chapter means though. I usually get so mad at repetition, but there's some prose where the repetition and rhythm is really made to be read out loud in my head. A better example of stuff like that for me, would be this section from the Bluest Eye from Toni Morrison

Love is never any better than the lover. Wicked people love wickedly, violent people love violently, weak people love weakly, stupid people love stupidly, but the love of a free man is never safe. There is no gift for the beloved. The lover alone possesses his gift of love. The loved one is shorn, neutralized, frozen in the glare of the lover’s inward eye.

I read that book ages ago and I still repeat it to myself sometimes.

Or, for another example, @runraerun really hits that for me, especially her Eddie voice. Like this paragraph from runrarerun's Courage, You Little Shit

Because… People aren’t kind to Eddie Munson, alright? With the rare exception of his uncle and a handful of his closest friends, people just don’t care about lowly, urchin boy Eddie. They definitely don’t bother treating him with any sort of gentleness, especially not people like Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington, former King of Hawkins. No, Eddie is strictly seen as utilitarian; not someone that needs coddling. Eddie barely got that treatment when he was a little kid and still passably cute. So, yeah, he definitely wasn’t expecting anyone to offer him kindness now that he’s a full grown, somewhat scary looking dude.

I wonder if part of this is cultural. I'm guessing Mark Twain's prose was close to how people actually talked in that region in that time kind of like how Rae's prose is very close to how people ramble now.

I wonder how the more colloquial fics (that I absolutely love) would read for someone like... three decades from now

I would loved to have had Harper Sayles become a reoccurring character who just breezes in every once in a while and tries to kill Jack, always failing, but becomes this ongoing dance/running joke between them. The necromancer who fell in love/lust with an effectively unkillable creature.

Like they’re just working a case and she fucking runs him over with a whole ass car, and he just pops up from the wreckage like, “🫨whoa! Are you okay?—Oh, hello Harper. ✋🙂” And she just, “❤️👄❤️✨Hi Jack. Did you miss me?”

Or they’ll be at a diner and he’ll be like, “huh. My food kinda tastes kinda funny.” *looks over to see Harper behind the counter holding rat poison in her hand like; “☠️😘” And Jack: “✋😀”

TFW2.0 casually digging up a grave one night, as they do, and she just comes out of no where and stabs him in the chest, and he’s like: “Hello Harper! Did you do something to your hair? It’s really pretty.” And she just: “🥰🔪🩸 yeah I got highlights, that’s so sweet of you to notice💕”
