ITOSHI RIN is honestly sick of all of the stupid lovey dovey tiktoks you send him. first of all, he barely uses tiktok (his profile is just his name and nothing is customised), second of all, he only uses it to like your posts (you're the only one he follows) and third of all, he just doesn't have the time! but he hates seeing you look so dejected whenever he tells you that he hasn't seen your messages filled with links yet, so he has no other choice but to bear with it.

and one in particular has been on his mind lately. he hasn't been able to see you in days, and the separation is starting to get to him. no hugs, no kisses, no you, no nothing! he thought being victim to your favourite trends was beyond him, but with all of the couples baking cookies shaped like each other, it was sparking something inside of him without consent.

on a random tuesday night, you got a text from rin. that's rare, because he barely ever texts you first. and what was it? a video of him baking cookies shaped like you. he was silent, straight faced, only showing off the ingredients and dough every now and then before you finally got to see the final result. you could tell he tried his best, even putting in the tiniest of details, and creating separate smaller cookies to stick on top.

no, he didn't really want to record himself, but he knew what you were like. he knew you wanted to post the video on tiktok, wanting to show off this new form of affection he's evolved into. he doesn't get it, but he knows it makes you happy.

when you arrived at ritou’s, scara is already there. he’s sitting at the very back, his back turned to you.

the staff greeted you and you smiled at them. you took a deep breath before walking towards him.

“yo.” you said. before scara could look at you, you’re already seated across from him.

he puts down the menu he’s holding and stares at you. and of course, you felt your face heating up at his intense gaze so you looked away and unconsciously fixed your hair.

badump. badump.

WHY IS HE LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT?

“is chocolate chips okay with you?” he asks out of nowhere and when you look back at him, he’s back to choosing his orders from the menu.

“uh, i am not a fan of chocolates.” you said, “i’d have vanilla milkshake instead.”

scara hums at your answer and stands up. he gave you a smile before turning on his heel to purchase your orders. you watch him walk away, and you feel like your heart will burst out because you can almost hear it beating so fast just because of his smile.

that one goddamn smile that made you fall for him back in high school.

you took a deep breath to calm down, and you pull out your phone and open your messages.

‘you like him, he likes you. isn’t that enough?’

does he really??

you didn’t notice that scara is back because when he sits down, you’re still glued to your phone—not moving an inch.

scara clears his throat to get your attention, and thankfully, it did.

“so, what is it you want to talk about?” he asked, his face serious.

“oh.. um..” you tried to find the right words to say but you cant come up with anything. “i know i’ve already asked this before, but.. do you…”

like me?

you find yourself unable to finish that question. you and scara just stare at each other, silence enveloping the two of you.

but it looks like scara already knew what you were about to ask, because he let out a small, quiet laugh before looking back at you. he put his crossed arms above the table and leans in.

“do you hate me?”

his question caught you off guard. “huh?”

“do you hate me, y/n?”

“..no.”

“then do you like me?”

IS THIS A TRICK QUESTION.

you open your mouth to answer but no words would come out so you close it again and look away.

“..why are you asking me that?”

“can’t answer me?”

silence.

your heart is beating like crazy and you wanted to punch your chest to make it stop—i mean, slow but you’re frozen in your seat.

why did i ask him to meet again…?

“if you can’t answer me, it’s fine.” he said and you could hear him sigh. you slowly look back at him.

“why bother asking me if you already know that?”

“who knows.” he shrugs, and you find yourself relaxing a little. “but if you can't answer me, can i answer your question, at least?”

“what quest— oh.”

you nod your head. but before scara could say something, you hold up your hand, as if telling him to stop.

“actually, no. you can’t.” you said, “i mean, of course you can give me your answer but.. not now.”

i feel like i won’t be able to handle it if the answer is either yes, or no…

“you sure?”

“hmm.”

scaramouche smiled. oh god not that smile!!

“okay, if you say so.”
