Somebody go check on joe biden because this much supernatural drama does not happen without a severe shake up in the American political landscape.
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN POKEMON AND JOJOS BIZARRE ADVENTURE
- Made in Japan, obviously
- Series about people who can control creatures with supernatural powers and use these powers for battle.
- It’s been around for a good while and cemented its own legacy with video games, manga, and anime.
- There are 7 complete parts, with the 8th part being still in production at time of posting
- The protagonist of the anime counterparts of all 8 parts all have the same name and are all swole (one could argue that in Pokemon it’s the same person)
- The iconic anime protagonist has a partner who has one consistent move used to dispose of bad guys (Pikachu’s Thundershock/bolt on Team Rocket to Star Platinum’s ORA)
- The creation myth of Entei, Raikou, and Suicune are it was about three dog-like Pokemon that died and were ressurrected, and Araki just kills way too many dogs
- Pokedex entries imply that Pokemon have an insane amount of power and you can’t see them using that power. This is very similar to Okuyasu’s “The Hand“
- The bad guy in the 5th part starts out as a twink, but then it turns out the REAL bad guy is some bigger older man controlling him.
- Aliens exist
- There’s a fire bird, a lightning bird, and an ice bird
- The later parts of the 6th Part of each series introduce Heavy Weather
- The 6th part also introduces the existence of alternate universes right at the end.
- This one is a REALLY weird coincidence/stretch, but Gen 3 featured Gen 1 remakes, Gen 4 featured Gen 2 remakes, and Gen 6 featured Gen 3 remakes. Part 3 is where we last see Part 1′s Jojo (at least his body), Part 4 is where we last see Part 2′s Jojo, and Part 6 is where we last see Part 3′s Jojo.
- While every part is fantastic, the 6th part is seen by many as one of the less popular parts.
- The 4th part is the best part
uh:
- supernatural adventures in a mostly normal modern day setting
- as much focus is given to exploring the world and appreciating it’s culture as on the actual superpowered battles
- ambiguously sentient pet/friend/guardian angels
- ideally suited for people to make ‘-sonas’, by coming up with their own stand, or thinking of what pokemon they’d have as a trainer
- early teen characters running around without adult supervision and getting into dangerous situations, which irl children go nuts for
- organized crime and ancient advanced civilizations are the two major sources of villainy
- People walking around with Peak Character Design outfits
Some more
- Part 7 includes versions of characters (or Pokemon) from Part 1, although in a different form
- Cyrus and Kira both usually look like they could be told their firstborn just died and they wouldn’t blink
- Characters from Pokemon and Jojo first starred in their first fighting game within 2 months of one another (Heritage for the Future came out December 1, 1998. Super Smash Bros came out January 21, 1999)
- The 3rd part introduced brand new battle concepts that went on to become mainstays (stands/double battles)
- Part 4 is the only part to feature the antagonist successfully using a bomb (Great Marsh in Platinum, Kira in DIU. This one might need some citation because KQ is in Jojolion and I havent read it yet)
- Part 3 features incredibly strong sunlight being detrimental to the heroes
- Part 4 has “Diamond” in the title
i think the hardest part about this job is not being able to say What The Fuck
me: I know the vaccine distribution is coming along much faster than expected and it’s very difficult to roll out literally hundreds of millions of doses that have to be negative 90 something degrees and I’m on track to get mine by July/August and that’s okay because I’m honestly going to be okay through then so I’ll sit tight
also me, waiting by the door: vakxine
