regarding the genocide song contest:
- various past eurovision contestants are campaigning for the removal of israel and some national finalists are now choosing to boycott. olly alexander, who will rep the uk, condemned the palestinian genocide and was subsequently attacked by israeli media (in a blatant rule violation the ebu did nothing about)
- slovenian broadcaster rtvslo is purportedly trying to negotiate the removal of israel
- 1000 artists from host country sweden are preparing to send an open letter to the ebu to ban israel; the swedish left wing has also called for israel to be removed immediately
- iceland is officially threatening to boycott eurovision pending the removal of israel
- word on the street is that if iceland does compete, it will send palestinian artist bashar murad who is openly anti-israel and has collabed with previous icelandic reps hatari, aka the guys who did this back in 2019
- iceland is now leading in the odds whereas israel has been steadily dropping, suggesting that the bookies are aware israel is becoming increasingly unpopular
- lastly, in a move so ridiculous i'm beginning to suspect eurovision is a figment of our collective imagination, israel is seemingly gearing up to enter eden golan, a moscow-based russian singer. while russia is still banned for terrorism.
if you're european: please contact your participating broadcaster and demand for the removal of israel, or try to contact your nation's selected artist to put pressure on the broadcaster. if you're swedish, please try contacting svt or authorities with security concerns regarding the inclusion of israel. if israel does enter eden golan, complain about her selection and ties to russia. and absolutely DO NOT vote on, watch or promote this show if israel does end up competing.

I've been hearing some problematic things about UNRWA, and Save the Children seems to be doing very little (as far as I am informed). I donate to PCRF and MAP, but don't know any other, smaller orgs that may also need more awareness? Thanks ♥
hello, thanks for sending this in. so i've been trying to find smaller orgs for palestine that are specifically for helping gaza, but the issue is not much aid is being let in. PCRF is a really good org in my opinion, I'd always donate to them regardless.
There's also the Palestine Museum, which does really great cultural preservation work.
Palestine Legal is a legal aid group that helps palestinian and palestinian advocacy facing legal challenges.
Palestine Action is a direct action group that helps do disruptive protests.
Samidoun helps palestinian prisioners around the world and keeps and eye on them.
Within Our Lifetime is an NYC based palestinian led organization.
Palestinian Youth Movement is a favorite for Turtle Island led Palestinian resistance.
Palestine Feminist Collective is a Turtle Island feminist movement that works to spread culture and information.
Good Shephard Collective seems to be doing good work in Bethlehem as well.
I would mostly look for mutual aid groups for people from Gaza if you want to donate to them. Aya Ghanamah retweets mutual aid groups a lot.
I might share more groups in a second reblog after I hear back on best ways to help them.

Jewish Voice for Peace has a site which automatically connects you to the right people and provides a script you can use to call your members of congress if you're in the US.
Islamic Relief in the UK also has a page where you can write to your MPs to call for a ceasefire.

Reminder for United States residents who are calling: include telling them that as a voter you will not be supporting them in upcoming elections unless they take action against helping the US stop funding Israel
While calling your local reps and demanding a ceasefire is still an important effort while so many of these countries are continuing to fund and support Israel in their genocide against Palestine, it is not the most effective way to help Palestine and support those in Gaza right now.

because i love y’all, i’m sharing my family’s recipe for apple tea (traditional fall/winter drink in west asia, turkey, and many areas of the balkans)
it’s like a more delicate version of apple cider and i basically live off of this stuff when the weather starts to cool!
Apple Tea (for two)
- 1 large apple or 2 small, shredded (you can use a cheese grater)
- 3 cups water
- 1-2 cinnamon sticks
- 2-3 pc clove (optional)
- honey to taste
- 1 tsp of lemon juice (add at end)
- green tea (optional! some versions call for green tea but i actually prefer it without. up to you!)
throw it all in a pot and let it simmer on a low temperature for an hour or so. while it’s simmering, it will also make your home smell delicious! (if you make it with green tea, add the tea at the end, about five minutes before taking it off the heat so the flavor doesn’t become bitter from oversteeping). strain into your cups and enjoy hot.

* when you manage to put the scale down for a photo without creating new crumbs
- When you tell a member of a descendant community about what you found and they go “no shit! Uncle Tommy told me about that!”
- Things that are where they shouldn’t be. Bonus points if it’s obsidian
- Hitting virgin sediment before hitting the water table
- Conspicuously dense and diverse berry patches
- Cut marks on bones. Bonus points if they’re more than 20,000 years old
In addition to these because those were spectacularly relatable for Australian archaeology:
- When the temperature is Just Right™ for fieldwork
- When the car has really good aircon travelling from site in the afternoon
- One of the Indigenous representatives on a fieldsurvey goes “hey i wanna show you something” (it is ALWAYS something worth looking at)
