Is it about butchering black girls’ hair to keep white people comfortable? Is it about a woman visiting the same violence on her daughter as was done to her by her mother a generation prior? Is this girl just too… “different” to go into the world unaltered? Does she need to be toned down so she can succeed? Does she need to be defenseless before she is deemed safe by powerful people who would do her harm if given half a reason? Is one of those people holding those scissors?

I think one of my favorite things on Tumblr is when we see Art of a Sad character we all immediately want them to be OK, to get better, to be happy.

And if the artist won’t do it, we’ll step in and do it ourselves.

Fiddling around with some special effects (as due to the current upper respiratory stuff going on, and the accompanying antihistaminic wooze, not a lot of work has been happening).

Meanwhile, looks like Dusty's just been to some sorcerer's yard sale... I'd have preferred to do this in the daytime version of the ROG Red Crow Tavern set, but for some reasons the lighting settings were giving me grief and the incoming sunlight kept blowing the whole scene out. (shrug) ...The pretty SFX lighting inside the crystal ball comes from this Technomancer set.

so once again we have a recall where the company responsible does not actually know all of where its products wound up. which is bad, because bleach is in them. the list of affected states is not comprehensive.

if you use these products in these sizes at all, anywhere in the US, check your cartons.

the manufacturer did not catch their own contamination. someone sent a tip to the FSIS, who investigated and found that yes, this shit is contaminated with a cleaning solution that contains bleach.

although you probably do not want to eat these on purpose, the FSIS insists that the contaminated products are probably not going to cause major health issues, and none had been reported when the recall was announced. but it is worth pointing out that a lot of these products went to foodservice, and most people making or ordering an omelette do not think they are about to eat fucking bleach.

if you got sick after ordering an egg dish, reach out to appropriate foodservice staff and ask if they use these products.

if you think eating the contaminated products may have hurt you, talk to your doctor.

I'd just like to clarify some things about Senator Cory Booker's marathon Senate speech in protest of the present administration and everything they are doing to the American people.

Senator Booker was NOT allowed to sit down, eat, or use the bathroom during his speech. Sitting or leaving the room to use the bathroom would be considered yielding the floor. Eating would have interfered with his speaking and the person who has the senate floor must continue to speak, except when listening to questions that they will then answer.

He only took occasional sips of water.

The person who previously held the record for longest speech on the Senate floor did have bathroom breaks and also did things like read from the encyclopedia.

Senator Booker did not do that. His speech was to point out the damage that this administration is doing and he stayed on that subject.

Senator Booker's speech did reach many people. It wasn't a silly stunt that was done so that he could take the record for longest speech. He wanted to show the country that democrats will do something to bring attention to the problems we are facing. That democrats are listening to them.

Senator Cory Booker spoke for 25 hours and 4 minutes to "make good trouble."
