@sewi-li-suwi / sewi-li-suwi.tumblr.com

they/them | it's mostly random posts here, but i'm into linguistics and conlanging :3 | my banner's by Ithalu Dominguez - https://www.pexels.com/photo/white-clouds-and-blue-sky-907485/ - i can't remember where my pfp comes from.

be warned! my blog is not accessable to blind or partially sighted folks. i ID most images i upload, but i reblog a lot of undescribed images and videos.

if you want me to start tagging something then please ask! i'll try and do it consistently <3

some tags you might want to block (or look at ig):

  • #09 (horny stuff - i do not tag individual kinks, and nudity on its own (eg. in art) isn't enough to warrant this tag for me. has to have the sexual vibesโ„ข y'know?)
  • #flashing
  • #insect, #spider
  • #gifset (they lag out my phone but sometimes i think they're worth reblogging anyways)
  • #unreality (inconsistently tagged)
  • #wizardposting (all the stuff in here is unreality. we pretend to be wizards.)
  • #food (photos of food or posts discussing food heavily)
  • #food mention (posts where it shows up a bit, but isn't the star of the show)
  • #christianity (posts about christianity)

some tags you might want to look at (or block ig)

  • #sewi's stuff (my posts)
  • #sewi's polls (my polls)
  • #ask (asks), #anon (anonymous asks)
  • #fav (favourite posts)
  • #familiars (animals, pets, and animal-coded beasts)
  • #writing, #story
  • #art, #comic, #sketch
  • #[insert animal here] (no as in literally write the animal name there. #cat is a common one.)
  • #this is cool (self explanatory i feel)
  • #wizardposting, #wizart (wizard art)
  • #linguistics (see also #phonology, #accents, #syntax, #morphology, etc)
  • #[insert language here] (posts about or in that language) (i sometimes post in #toki pona)

Word of the Week Wednesday - 2. 4. 2025

Hey, hi, it's Wedesday again, unfortunately I am very sick and as much as I would love to do a related WotW to that, I just. don't have the capacity right now. So here's something simple instead to get this over with. Hopefully next week there'll be something better! You can never know with me, sorry

Jรคlรญgรฐir /ja.liห.รฐษชr/ [jaliหรฐษชษพฬฅ]

verb, intransitive

to reach

Etymology: from "jรค" (meaning "to") and "lรญgรฐir" (meaning "touch"). Out of universe, it's a calque of the Czech "dosรกhnout."

The object of this verb usually takes the lative case (in the most common usage of this verb).

Example sentence:

รžรบvigรค kรบ rajรค fรญreรฐar? Jรครฐulรญgรฐa gรคr eirjรค.

English: Can you pass it to me? I can't reach it.

Literal translation: Can you to me give-it? Reach-not I to it.

Gloss: can-M.ATEM=Q 2SG 1SG.LAT give<3SG.N>.INF? <NEG>reach-F.ATEM 1SG 3SG.N-LAT

Note: I used a few wordforms and constructions I'm not sure about including yet, sorry. Like "rajรค" being the lative of "gรคr" or "fรญรฐar" being used for passing something to someone else. This really is a rather low quality WotW, but i hope that's understandable

Thank you so much for asking! This is a feature of Kolic that I'm not at all sure if it's naturalistic, but I really love its vibes. You're right that this isn't noun incorporation, Kolic indeed doesn't have that. But it isn't inflection per se either (I think? Maybe it is idk) Basically this is how it works:

If the direct object of a verb is a pronoun, this pronoun gets infixed (in a special form) into the verb, right before the coda of the last syllable of the stem.

Note that nouns aren't infixed into verbs like this, and also that this isn't agreement of the verb with the object - if the direct object is a noun, the verb doesn't contain the infixed pronoun.

There also exists a more emphatic accusative form of pronouns, which is basically just saying the pronoun separately and not infixing it. Compare "รuru gรคr rรญrallรคn" (I didn't pull him) with "รuru gรคr รณ rรญllรคn" (I didn't pull him).

As for how naturalistic this is, I really don't know, I just made it up one day and kept it, but if there is a way to make it more naturalistic, that would be lovely. I did kinda consider what it would look like if, in the absence of a direct object and the presence of an indirect one which happens to be a pronoun, the indirect one was infixed, but I think that could get really ambiguous really quickly.

Finally, some examples:

Aera Aqqutaq tรญgjรคn Hildu. - Aqqutaq held Hilda.

Aera Aqqutaq tรญrugjรคn. - Aqqutaq held her.

Also, the (currently) only other infix in Kolic - the negation, which is infixed after the first vowel - can sometimes fall into the same space (and most often does, since most Kolic words have two syllables). If that happens, the negation comes first, and the direct object comes second:

Veiรฐureรฐvu! - Don't eat it!

I hope this answered the question! And thank you again for asking, I LOVE elaborating about my lang like this! :D

hey it's probably a really good idea to download a copy of your Master Promissory Note since most of them stipulate that your loans are *specifically owed to the Department of Education* and if you intend to dispute the debt in the wake of the DoE dissolving that will be really good to have

log in and then go to My Documents and download a copy of it. i'm serious. if trump dissolves the DoE entirely it may make the debt uncollectable depending on exactly how they do it, and he's too stupid to listen to lawyers that tell him when he's breaking the law. worst case you have an extra PDF on your computer. best case your student loans go away because you signed a contract to pay DoE and no one else. go download a copy.

Love the spirit of this, but they will probably use a debt assignment to legally transfer the debt to a new entity.

Investopedia has an article about the practice here: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/debtassignment.asp

Always a good idea to have a copy of your note, though! And the proper transfer process is described in the FDCPA (an act of congress), so if the new debt owner fails to provide appropriate notice, you may have relief options there. (Potentially dependent on the CFPB continuing to function, which itโ€ฆ.might notโ€ฆ)

~not legal advice, just work experience in finance~

I stated this elsewhere but the Higher Education Act has specific language about when debt is allowed to be sold - they can't just sell it at any time for any reason, and all the terms of the Act would still apply to the loan since in most cases the MPN stipulates as much (since the actual terms of a promissory note can't be altered without consent even if the payee changes). Specifically, they cannot sell the debt if it "result[s] in any cost to the Federal Government". Reassigning the loans to another agency would incur a massive cost since that agency would have to hire new personnel and build new infrastructure, eliminating the possibility of a sale within the government, and a sale to a private third party would made debt validation very tricky for that party since FERPA would prevent disclosure of a borrower's SSN, student ID number (ergo, the account number), and the itemization of the debt without written consent, meaning in that scenario the borrower could most likely* refuse this disclosure, dispute the debt, and win pretty easily.

*not a lawyer

the bottom line, if they attempt to reassign your loans anywhere... REQUEST DEBT VALIDATION BEFORE PAYING A CENT.

i forget that when most people talk about porn they mean boring real life hetslop instead of awesome drawings of girls in cute and unusual situations

I enjoy paying porn artists regularly so they can afford to live and eat and keep making cool art of characters having sexy fun and funny sex
