season 2 wasnt great, but honestly I didn’t mind it. Frankly I had a great time watching, and some people just want to be butthurt
Who Caitlyn gassed btw
Living in a post-Arcane Season 2 world is so surreal because when I see people who appreciate the characters as much as I do I have to stop and wonder if they like the same characters as me, or do they like the uncanny meat-puppets of the characters season 2 was about?
Short version is if they go crazy over the Vi and Caitlyn sex scene then it's the second one.
Ok I’m sorry but does anyone else feel like Timebomb came entirely out of left field??? There was zero indication of any romantic feelings between the two in season one, and, even in season two, all of Ekko’s chemistry is with AU Powder - not Jinx! They hardly even interact in season two! Not to mention there is never, at any point, any sort of implication that Jinx reciprocates Ekko’s feelings. At best, it’s a one-sided crush between Ekko and a version of Jinx that he wishes she was. I genuinely do not see them together. I honestly don’t think the writers did either, it feels so forced. A lot pisses me off about season two but this is one of the most annoying writing choices and I feel like no one is talking about it.
Still thinking about the "I keep telling myself that you're different" line btw. She kept telling herself that Vi wasn't really a Zaunite. That she's different from them. That's why Vi ending up with Caitlyn in Piltover without any friends (ex. Ekko) is so horrid - Caitlyn succeeded in erasing the Zaun parts of Vi
This is a read that completely disregards the context of the quote. The quote "I keep telling myself that you're different." Is from season 2 episode 3, right after Vi prevents Caitlyn from attempting to shoot Jinx, due to Isha being on top of Jinx. This is not about being a Zaunite, but about Vi's and Jinx's blood relation, especially because the full quote would be "I keep telling myself that you're different from. But you're not. It's her blood in your veins." With her referring to Jinx.
But Vi never behaves like Jinx. Caitlyn meets Vi first also, so already had an opinion on her. What, she changes it because of what Jinx did? Why would Caitlyn have to tell herself that Vi is different from Jinx when she has proven this time and time again and in fact condemns Jinx's actions constantly to the point of saying that her sister is gone? Where's any similarity to Jinx in Vi preventing Caitlyn from shooting a kid to get to Jinx to trigger her saying this.
But what has Caitlyn said before this? She easily slips into calling Zaunites animals (not terrorists, not monsters. Animals). As a kid she asks Jayce "weren't you scared" when referring to going to the undercity. She was quite rude to Vi at first due to her being a prisoner.
So either the quote makes minimal sense (like a lot of stuff in s2 to be fair) or it's what I said

Oh look, proof of what everyone with even an elementary understanding of science knows: Caitlyn's gas didn't just hurt the "bad guys".
In the show we see Zaunites taking refuge at Ekko's hideout, some Cait fans tried to say they were hiding from the chembarons. But in the leaks you can hear them sputtering and coughing, yet this was edited out of the final product...
Oh it's also pretty clear in Jinx Fixes Everything
I think part of the reason why Arcane season 2 has some hardcore fans foaming and praising it so much, is because the voice actors did a very good job. All of them. So some dialogue seems normal or even good. But when you read the captions only, you realize some of the lines don't make sense or are low quality.
Like Caitlyn saying "I'm a decorated officer..." when she isn't at all, or Ambessa whispering "you're the wolf" as her dying breath. Or Vi saying "she oinked poison in your ear and you just ate it". Or Jayce saying "there's beauty in imperfection".
As I said in a previous post, some of the dialogue feels like the writers wanted some cool one-liners without giving them much thought. And they work, but only because the animation and the voice acting are the best. Once you start analyzing it without hearing the voices, it falls flat.
Caitvis timeline is so weird when you think about it, because Vi betrayed Zaun and joined the people who abused her and her family and KILLED her parents for a girl she's known for DAYS. Deemed her sister a monster for an ENFORCER she just met. Then she gasses her own city for a a few weeks to a few months, they share one kiss then Cait hits Vi and she spirals for like 6 months for a girl she's known for 3. Like what?? How are THEY endgame
Arcane writer voice: wow! Jinx has gotten really popular! Obviously that means we need to redeem her and turn her into a hero. Quips sell t shirts after all! And didn’t that work so well with Harley Quinn? It’s like we have our own!
So how do we redeem and make her palatable to a general audience? Oh I know! What a mentally ill teenager needs is a child to take care of! Her motherly instincts will override her female hysteria!
Of course she needs to give up all her goals of revolution and personal ideas, the realllll purpose for a woman is to take care of children!
A child will obviously defeat the female hysteria!!!!!
I hate this fucking writing.
I NEED people to understand that Silco was not gaining power for the sake of gaining power but so that once an opportunity arose to negotiate for Zaun’s independence he had leverage against the council because he had become what the council feared: a zaunite with enough power to be a threat to theirs.
(and who has an active vendetta against Piltover. and who was willing to do anything to achieve his goals. and who made the undercity such a nuisance that the council just didn’t want to deal with anymore so they’re willing to let it go)
I think the pure horror of seeing Vi humming Dear Friend Across the River before saying "Eh just some song I guess", like it was the final trace of revolutionary spirit leaving her body, is never quite gonna get matched. I sit around shaking with the anxiety it gives me. Canon Caitvi is such a monstrously abusive relationship that sucks out every fibre of Vi's being till she's an empty shell of who she used to be and the writers' insistence that it's cute is just putrid.
I need ya'll brain.
What's your opinion about Vi becoming an enforcer at the end of S2E1?
Do you think it's reasonable enough for her to pick the badge or do you think it's OOC? What do you think her line of thinking here?
I'm still indicisive about the topic so I need more insight. Any thoughts are welcomed.
And if I say Caitvi was detrimental to Arcane as a whole?
