I can cry like Roger. It's just a shame I can't play like him.

Hi I follow you on your tennis blog, but I saw your post about wags and I wanted to add onto the discussion. The rise of the wag obsession/ wagfluencer in general feels like a variant of the tradwife influencers. And feels like a backlash to how popular women’s sports have gotten in recent years. Specifically with the wag influencers whose content primarily conduit of following their boyfriends around. Content like that isn’t aspirational it’s dangerous. It’s puts women in a dangerous position where they rely on a person who could take everything away from them. For every influencer who says how great their life is there’s a woman talking about how she felt like she couldn’t leave her abusive relationship. I feel like especially in tennis there’s been so many cases recently of men who use their power over women to make sure they can never leave. And yes Morgan riddles vlogs during slams are fun, but for every Morgan riddle there’s a Olya and Brenda, and I feel like people forget that.

You're 100% right. The increasing popularity of WAGs is inherently correlated to the rise of fascism/right wing ideologies, exactly how trad wife content has blown up.

It makes me so angry that telling women to not rely on one person, especially financially, has become a hot take because apparently every choice a woman makes, even if it's something that's detrimental to them and to other women/feminism at large, is valid because it's their "choice".

"For every Morgan Riddle there's a Olya and Brenda" I cannot tell you how painfully true this statement is and how important it is for people to understand that these aren't trivial discussions we're having here.

the atp is lowk having a serena pregnancy moment where there are just a bunch of first time champs

the implication that this is because jannik is on pregnancy leave and not a wada ban
