i have corneal dystrophy so my corneas will just kind of. tear. for no reason. quite frequently. cause of death: blinked too hard.
so one time i was in the eye hospital (id been there the day before and a junior doc dismissed me entirely as nothing being wrong, sent me off with no treatment, and my optician was Not Having It)
selfsame junior doc eye rolled and, when it was clear i wouldn't be leaving again, begrudgingly called in the consultant who took one glance at one eye, said "oh my god" and sent for a second consultant
who took one look and said "'ive never seen anything like it" and sent for a third
who took a quick look and said "wow. jesus. what a mess" and sent for the fourth etc
(junior doc getting progressively more embarrassed the whole time)
anyway both of my corneas have torn so many times it's apparently just a mess of scar tissue. but if you were wondering what's worse than one doctor exclaiming in surprise with 0 info, its having the entire department do it in succession

Gay bears stand up to campground that banned trans men
Grizzly Pines, a clothing-optional campground in Navasota, Texas, northeast of Houston, is now embroiled in controversy after the Houston Bears canceled their annual Bear Camp at the facility, citing the campgroundโs โMEN ONLYโ policy. The campground defines that as excluding trans men.
In a statement explaining the cancellation, the Houston Bears said, โA community member recently inquired if they could attend Bear Camp at Grizzly Pines because the member thought that Grizzly Pines had a policy of not allowing transgender men to stay at their facilities.โ
A second Texas bear organization, RGV Bears in the Rio Grande Valley, expressed support for the Houston Bearsโ decision and followed suit, canceling their own event booked for Grizzly Pines.
โTo our RGV Teddy Bear trans members, we will create events that we can continue to enjoy together in siblinghood (bearhood),โ the group wrote.
Wait... It's clothing optional and about comfort of seeing bodies you perceive male... Couldn't they just state that post-op trans men can be naked and pre-op are asked to cover up if another member asks them to??? Like... Ok, this is a bit of a complicated topic but the answer honestly doesn't feel that complicated???
Asking a trans man to cover up their body because you donโt perceive their body as male is still transphobic.
straight people are so fascinating even when they aren't actively trying to be homophobic. I had a class a few years ago where one assignment was to summarize some eighth century arabic poetry about going out for drinks with the lads before indulging in some gay sex and like half the class came in and said "I'm sorry idk what was happening in this one, they mention having sex with a servant but they also say the servant's a man? where'd the woman come from? I'm so confused." and a few days ago in a shakespeare class I made a comment about how cleopatra and octavius caesar are kind of parallel characters in possessively bartering for mark antony's attention and one of my classmates responded as though I'd been talking about octavia and not caesar, despite the fact that I said "caesar" and "him" multiple times while describing the actions he specifically took. fully incapable of comprehending of anything that's even a little bit gay.

Luigi Mangione has been locked up since December 2024, and he's been met with nothing but the violation of his rights every step of the way. Luigi's right to be treated humanely is constantly violated, as is his right to the presumption of innocence and a fair trial. Evidence is not being provided to his legal team, and he's being treated with prejudice by law enforcement.
Luigi is not a handsome face and a few jokes online. He is a real human being with real pain and real health issues. Luigi is a young man fighting for his life and the media is doing nothing but trying to sexualize him and make light of his situation.
Luigi has already lost so much to this, and although he remains resilient, it's important to remember that his circumstances can't possibly be good. It's also important to remember that if they can do it to Luigi, they can do it to more people, to your loved one, to you.
I am a rat on what is apparently a sinking ship (again) and I've gotten a small flood of asks/messages on where to find me if the hellsite goes under. I kinda don't think it will, but still. I am on instagram and tiktok (same name, same icon) and am considering adding another platform where I'll just...duplicate what I'm posting here, for now, I guess. I've glanced at bluesky and it seems to be twitter 2.0; I haven't tried pillowfort. I dunno, team. Any preferences?
