OKAY WELL i was going to wait to post the latest art telephone game on here until everything was finalized but one of the last artists got delayed by life stuff but everyone's already posting their individual piece online so it's silly to keep this secret now. i'll hold off on posting all the art natively on tumblr until i get the last piece in but in the meantime you can check out the hydraphone 2025 tag on here to see a bunch of it

this was the most ambitious game of art telephone i've run to date and had so many artists that i split them into 7 teams but with each working off of the same starting image. seeing how the characters and world evolved and changed across the different teams was so insanely cool and i'm so proud of all the kickass artists who contributed to this.

CHECK IT OUT:

On Saturday, February 15th, 2025, I was in an accident. While I sustained only some injuries to the skin on the back of my hands, some bruising on my jaw and hip, and pain from my body being wrenched around that has already almost entirely subsided...my car was not so lucky. I've never appreciated crumplezones and airbags so much, and I've never mourned an inanimate object quite like this.

She was the first car I'd ever owned, and for seven years she saved my life and carried me to and from family, loved ones, appointments for HRT, granted me mobility when chronic pain was at its worst...I feel like I lost a part of my soul. I'm always going to carry a part of her with me, the way she carried me for all those years. The psychological impact is going way beyond just the trauma of the accident itself, and I've been living like I was in a deep and cold fog since it happened.

The insurance company has declared her a total loss, which I guess you could surmise from the photos above. This means that they're making an offer of a payout in exchange for handing over the title to them...and while it's better than I expected, it isn't going to be enough to cover the cost of another reliable car.

If you can share a little bit to help, or just reblog this post to get more eyes on it, I'd really appreciate it:

oh, um, and if Venmo is preferred, I'm @ayellowbirds on there, too.

The other day I saw @nim-lock's post about the felted shrimp ornaments (shrornaments) and made a couple since I had the materials. It took me a bit to figure out the blanket stitch but it turned out fine.

I woke up the next day feeling motivated to make more shrornaments but, for whatever reason, just spent my entire day off making a full shrimp doll with my new skills instead.

She's wearing a Rainbow High shirt that somehow fits perfectly, the shoes are little doll shoes I had laying around (painted black), and the skirt is handmade for her. She has pipe cleaners in her arms and legs for some poseability but the wire is too weak to hold much.

Ahab was not very impressed...

while i completely agree with your assessment of realistically what a trump vs harris presidency will look like, i think the issue me and a lot of other leftists have is that there is no need to tell people (and effectively tell harris) that oh ofc we are gna vote for her despite these issues because trump is THAT bad and if you say you don't want to vote for her because her party is pro-war, pro-genocide, then you are condemning americans to a trump presidency. we know trump is worse! i don't want him to win AT ALL, but why would harris even consider even changing the language she is using (i'm looking at the absolutely stupid speech she was giving in michigan, given the large arab & muslim-american population there and given its a battleground state) if she thinks she is going to win on a not-trump basis? i know who i'm voting for on nov 5th if it comes down to it, but we need the democrats to THINK they are going to lose until the very last minute, we need them to feel like they can't just rely on being the lesser of two evils if we want any chance of a shift on palestine. because they very well might lose, for this exact reason (and i'm speaking again more to the votes of the arab & muslim-american population which is far more demographically meaningful than the votes of leftists) and if that happens, they have no one to blame but themselves.

So I'm going to tell you something important: You don't have the leverage you think you have.

Political campaigns are a machine that's been operating the same way for a long time on the Democratic side. The Republicans may have abandoned a lot of the old ways of doing things, but the Democratic party hasn't. And you've got people running these campaigns who are steeped in the "wisdom" of how you win.

And when a block of voters says they're not going to vote for their candidate, they tend to believe them. So they decide to go court the people who they think will vote for them. That's why you've seen the Harris campaign trying to court moderate Republicans who might be iffy on voting for Trump a third time.

Right now one of the reasons Netanyahu is refusing to commit to a cease fire is because he thinks Trump can win. If Trump wins, he has no reason to ever agree to one. One of the reasons he thinks Trump can win is because the polling is so close.

If you want to know why they've gone to the right recently, it's because they think they've lost the left. And since a lot of those leftists are claiming there's a line in the sand that they don't have the power to appease (because -- again -- they can't get Netanyahu to do shit right now), they're going to go for the centrist Republicans.

Also, there seems to be this weird notion that the only way to move the Democrats is during the election. That's not how you move people. You keep pressuring them during their term and it works. Like Biden is continuing to work on forgiving student debt even though he doesn't have an election ahead of him. Because they know that what he does reflects on the future of the party. Voting doesn't end this game, it's the start of it.

But none of it will matter if Trump wins.

If the left doesn't vote democrat, but meanwhile, the right votes enmasse for republicans, then the democrats will move further right in an effort to court votes.

But if the left vote enmass, then it tells the democrats, "Hey, the left likes what you're doing. If you go even further left, you'll get more votes."

Aka the more that the left votes democrat, the more leftist the democrats will move.

If the left refrains from voting, then the democrats will move further right.

So for the love of God, fucking vote.

Also, the other thing is, you need to beware of echo chambers.

Just because you and all your friends think Harris is a centrist, that does not mean that that is a common view. How often do you listen to people who don't agree with you, politically? I have to do it fairly regularly, and the average American is far more likely to think that Biden and Harris are both far-leftist extremists than they are to think they're middle-of-the-road.

Yes. That's right. To a lot of Americans, Biden and Harris are so far left that they are terrifying.

I know life-long Democrats who believe that. Who think that, in retrospect, sure, Trump was bad but Biden and Harris are just as bad, in the opposite direction. They're faced with what they see as a choice between two dangerous extremists, in opposite directions.

They're wrong, but you will never convince them of that.

And there are two important things to remember about them:

  1. There are a lot more people like that then there are people who think of Biden or Harris as centrists. (The people in America's political center sure as fuck don't think Biden and Harris are centrists.)
  2. Centrists vote far more regularly than leftists. Therefore, they have more power per person, because politicians know they have to have them on board to win. Leftists are nice to have, but undependable, so a politician who wants to be elected has to favor the centrists over the leftists.

If we want US politics to move left, we need to do two things:

  1. Vote in every election. Far left in primaries, Democrat in general elections, to prove we are a voting bloc worth listening to.
  2. Build on-the-ground relationships with people who don't already agree with us, and do active community building, harm reduction, and other stuff like that in our own communities. People don't change their ideology based on logic and national debates. They change their ideology based on relationships, stories, and seeing how stuff works in their own communities.

10.19.24 - Finished a little doll I started a few months ago. Made mostly with apoxie sculpt and stole the wings off a little plastic butterfly I had laying around. Roughly 3 inches tall.

Basically the reason I haven't been drawing much this year! Sort of just.... taking a break from illustrated art? I did a bit of sewing for a Ren Faire costume and that felt very refreshing.

It's just been very hard to focus whenever I purposefully sit down to draw, especially digitally, so I wanna try focusing on physical mediums with whatever spoons I scrape together for a little while.
